UNIT DESCRIPTION
The Counterterrorism Training Unit (CTU) is dedicated to the development of the men and women fighting the war on terror. Through innovative curriculums, CTU aims to provide training's that address emerging threats with continual assessments of internal demands.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be a current, permanent FBI employee
  • Must be able to obtain an SCI clearance
  • Some travel may/Frequent travel may be required
  • Selectee will be required to complete a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450 annually
  • Selectee will be required to complete form FD-887, Request for Access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work requires sitting or standing at a computer workstation and long hours staring at computer monitors to assess quality of work, often magnified many times over. The work also involves some walking, pushing of delivery carts and lifting of moderate to heavy weight to transport or pick up visual materials and computer hardware. Some travel may be required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The majority of the work is performed in an office setting; however, care must be observed when working with or near chemicals as well as photographic and printing equipment.
MAJOR DUTIES
  • Create illustrations, diagrams, graphs, slides, charts, etc., which are used in analytic products, information reports, presentations, and other types of communications media.
  • Apply the complex principles of artistic design to projects to stimulate interest and express a point.
  • Apply the tools and methods of computer graphics technology to maximize the quality, efficiency, speed, and cost effectiveness of visual information creation, automation, and transfer to viable end products.
  • Assist with initial decisions on such design matters as size, layout, kind and quality of materials, medium, color schemes, typography, lighting effects, specific visual elements or materials to be incorporated, or reproduction methods.
  • Consult with clients regarding project objectives, points to be emphasized, and the relative importance of each piece of information.
  • Develop projects and establish schedules and target completion dates for each project.
  • Serve as consultant and advisor in all areas of desktop publishing and graphic art production. Provide technical guidance, oversight and direction to clients.

Specialized Experience (SE)
GS-13: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of SE equivalent to the GS-12 grade level. SE is defined as follows:
  • Experience working in and understanding publishing, layout, scanning, photographic manipulation, word processing, typography, illustration programs, film production, art and photo collections.
  • Analyzes and evaluates text to determine the best visual means to combine word and art. Consults with authors and editors and recommends modifications in those instances when visual enhancement is necessary for the subject matter to be fully comprehended by the intended audience.
  • Experience analyzing suitability of text and photographs submitted by reviewing them for clarity, consistency, and accuracy. Evaluates graphic design principles to create original, and visually appealing artwork/graphics.
  • Gathers, analyzes, and conveys appropriate portions of information in a timely, accurate, and effective manner.

  • Relocation expenses will be borne by the selectee, except FBI employees returning from LEGAT assignment. Employees returning from LEGAT assignments must advise the Staffing and Administrative Unit / International Operations Division of their application for this position.
  • Candidates receiving a transfer of physical location, whether at the expense of the FBI or not, will be required to complete a one-year commitment to the assignment, prior to moving to a new position at the FBI. The 12-month waiting period begins the day an employee reports for duty at the new location.
