Job description

About Blue Margin

Blue Margin helps mid-market companies become data-driven. We're a 15-year-old Colorado-based company, and we're growing. We build data lakehouses and dashboard reporting solutions on Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, and Power BI that improve decision-making and drive measurable business outcomes. Increasingly, that work includes preparing client data for use with modern AI tools, making it easy for their AI applications to connect directly to their data lakehouse for analysis and reporting. Our model is a subscription managed data service, meaning we work closely with clients over the long term as a fractional data team embedded in their business.

We're hiring an additional Account Executive to help us capitalize on strong momentum at the intersection of data analytics and AI.

The Role

This is a new-logo, hunter role at its core. You'll own the full sales cycle: finding prospects, building relationships, running discovery, and closing. Once you have a deal underway, you're not on your own. We use a team-based selling approach, pulling in technical and executive resources at the right moments to support demos, solution design, and closing conversations. Your job is to build the pipeline, run the process, and quarterback the deal. We'll bring the right firepower when it counts to get the deal closed.

You'll sell a consultative, solutions-oriented engagement, not a transactional license. Our buyers are executives: CIOs, CTOs, VPs of IT and Engineering, COOs, CFOs, and CEOs. You'll need the presence to hold those rooms and the ability to guide complex organizations toward a decision.

We have a real marketing engine behind you: a content-rich website that draws thousands of monthly visitors, a podcast with over 18,000 subscribers that regularly surfaces deals, AI-assisted outbound action through Clay, and an outsourced SDR function generating meeting. Inbound and source leds flow to the team on a regular basis. That said, in your first three to four months, your primary focus will be building your own pipeline from the ground up. We want someone who is genuinely comfortable with that and can hit the ground running before the broader lead flow starts working in your favor. If cold-calling and networking don't sound fun to you, this is probably not the right role.

We're a company that uses AI tools seriously and expects our sales team to do the same. We provide licenses to all major frontier LLMs and use AI-assisted tools throughout the sales process including Clay for lead generation, HubSpot for CRM, and Gong for call intelligence. If you're already working this way, you'll have a great foundation to start. If not, we'll get you there.

What You'll Do

  • Build and manage your own pipeline through outbound prospecting, networking, cold outreach, email sequences, and partner relationships
  • Sell into private and PE-owned mid-market companies ($100M - $750M revenue) looking to improve how they use data and AI to meet their goals
  • Engage executive buyers (CIO, CTO, VP IT/Engineering, COO, CFO, CEO) with credibility and presence, and guide complex organizations to a decision
  • Own the full sales cycle while leveraging a team-based approach, bringing in technical and executive resources at the right stages to advance and close opportunities
  • Develop fluency in Blue Margin's solutions and the broader Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, Power BI, and AI landscape to credibly engage both business and technical buyers
  • Build relationships and local presence in the Denver market
  • Leverage AI-assisted tools for prospecting, outreach, pipeline management, and call review
  • Maintain accurate pipeline data and activity in HubSpot
  • Collaborate with delivery and customer success teams to ensure deals are set up for long-term client success

What We're Looking For

  • Three plus years of B2B sales experience in technology professional services, consulting, data, AI, engineering, or a managed-services (MSP) environment where you learned to sell the value of services
  • A true hunter with a demonstrated track record of self-sourcing pipeline, not just closing inbound leads
  • Skilled at running your own outbound motion including cold outreach, networking, and multi-touch email and LinkedIn campaigns
  • Consultative selling style with strong discovery and listening skills; candidates from purely transactional SaaS or license-sale backgrounds should know this is a more complex, solutions-oriented sale
  • Executive presence and comfort selling to and navigating C-level and VP-level buyers
  • A thoughtful career track record that suggests you'll stay and build something over multiple years, not a short stop between roles
  • Scrappiness and self-direction: we are looking for someone who is energized by creating opportunities in a growing company rather than managing an inherited book of business
  • Fluency with modern sales tools and AI-assisted workflows, or genuinely eager to become so; personal facility with AI and CRM tools is a plus
  • Natural collaboration and effectiveness at orchestrating internal resources to move deals forward
  • Denver-based preferred, with local market knowledge a plus; our LoDo office is steps from Union Station. Some travel to our Fort Collins headquarters expected

What We Offer

  • OTE ranging from $125,000 to $180,000 (base + commission), based on experience and qualifications. No cap on commission upside, and commissions double once you hit your annual number
  • Licenses to all major frontier LLMs and a full modern AI toolset for your work
  • Opportunity to grow with an established, expanding company in a high-demand market
  • Collaborative team of four AEs with strong internal support at every stage of the deal
  • Hybrid work flexibility
  • Health, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance
  • 401(k) with 4% company match
  • PTO, sick leave, and paid holidays
