Design Release Engineer- Exterior Accessories
Minimum 5 Years experience in Design Release Engineering
Venteon is currently seeking an experienced Design Release to fill a opening with a manufacturing company located in Metro Detroit. The ideal candidates should have a background in design engineering, ideally in exteriors and accessories within automotive.
Requirements of the Design Release Engineer
  • Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline required
  • 8+ years of experience in automotive chassis engineering, ideally focused on Suspension Lift and Lowering Kits.
  • Hands-on experience in at least two of the following areas:
    • Suspension architecture development, hardpoint creation, and initial design selection
    • Suspension Lift and Lower Kit design and release
    • Suspension component product engineering and release
    • Chassis fastener design and validation testing
  • Solid knowledge of durability considerations impacting suspension components and systems.
  • Proven experience with APQP methodologies and associated engineering documentation.
  • Working knowledge of Catia V5, including model and drawing review, drawing modifications, sectioning, measurements, and related functions; 3D modeling capability is a plus.
  • Experience working within PLM systems, including component releases and engineering change management.
  • Understanding of applicable regulatory standards and compliance requirements, including NHTSA, FMVSS, CARB, EPA, FCC, and related regulations.

Responsibilities of the Design Release Engineer
  • Lead the design and development of cost-effective, lightweight, and high-performing Chassis Accessories, including Suspension Lift and Lowering Kits.
  • Play a key role in influencing the vehicle dynamics of accessorized vehicles through ownership of the design and release of suspension lift/lower kits and related hardware.
  • Take full engineering ownership of APQP deliverables, including DFMEA, Engineering Specifications, DVP&R, Drawings, and Control Plans.
  • Partner with Accessories Product Management and Purchasing to source new Chassis Accessories and Systems, conducting supplier technical evaluations to identify the best solutions from both functional and commercial perspectives.
  • Develop, define, and release Suspension Lift and Lower Kits while collaborating closely with Chassis Ride Control DREs to ensure all vehicle performance objectives are achieved.
  • Collaborate with Accessories, Design, Manufacturing, Safety, Vehicle Integration (NVH and Vehicle Dynamics), and Vehicle Evaluation & Verification teams to launch robust Chassis Accessories and Systems that meet vehicle-level and component-level requirements.
