The Senior DataEngineer serves as a technical powerhouse within Snooze's data ecosystem,reporting directly to the Vice President of Data Engineering and Analytics. Inthis role, you will design, harden, and scale the infrastructure required topower advanced analytics and artificial intelligence applications across our 65+locations. By prioritizing strategy, growth, and monetization in yourarchitectural decisions, you will transform complex data challenges intoactionable business value, empowering cross-functional teams and creating aclear ROI for our data platform.

Taking on therole of Senior Data Engineer isn't just about bacon and pancakes. This role requiresdeep technical execution combined with an understanding of enterprise valuecreation. The responsibilities of this position include:

Enterprise Data Modeling: Architect andimplement scalable, robust data models (e.g., dimensional modeling, starschemas) that serve as the single source of truth for both self-serviceoperational reporting and advanced machine learning and AI applications.

Advanced SQL & QueryOptimization: Write, review, and continuously optimize highlycomplex SQL queries within Snowflake to ensure performant, cost-effective dataretrieval at enterprise scale.

Data Warehouse & LakeSecurity: Harden and optimize our Snowflake data warehouse and AWS S3data lake environments, ensuring robust governance, security, and scalability.

Semantic Layer Optimization: Utilize dbt tobuild, manage, and continuously improve our enterprise semantic layer, ensuringdata consistency and enabling scalable self-service analytics for Operationsand Marketing.

AI Workflow Integration: Lead thedevelopment and integration of AI applications directly into Snooze'soperational and back-office workflows. Demonstrate expertise in promptengineering and optimization to standardize and improve AI interactions acrossthe organization.

Machine Learning Deployment: Architect anddeploy production-ready machine learning models within an AWS environment forapplications such as optimizing labor forecasting, menu engineering, and supplychain efficiency.

API Development: Design, build,and maintain robust, high-performance data APIs using frameworks such asFastAPI or Flask to seamlessly integrate data products into our evolving techstack.

Pipeline Orchestration &Resilience: Develop and maintain complex data pipelines usingApache Airflow. Enforce strict pipeline reliability standards and rigorouserror handling, such as ensuring data pipelines explicitly error out andtrigger alerts when critical vendor files are missing.

Data Architecture &Modeling: Proven ability to design scalable, dimensional data models thattranslate complex business logic into intuitive, efficient data structures.

Advanced SQL: Expert-levelSQL proficiency, including advanced query optimization, performance tuning,cost-reduction strategies, and complex window functions.

Apache Airflow: Advancedorchestration, custom operator development, and strict error handlingimplementation.

dbt: Hands-onexperience structuring, testing, and optimizing a robust semantic layer.

Machine Learning: Appliedexperience deploying production-ready ML models within an AWS ecosystem.

FastAPI / Flask: Proven abilityto build secure, high-performance API frameworks for data serving.

AI Integration: Demonstratedcapability to integrate AI/LLMs into enterprise workflows and operationalpipelines.

An entrepreneurial spirit with a focus ondelivering technical solutions that create enterprise value and operationalleverage.

Decisive problem-solving skills to improveorganizational efficiency.

A positive, glass-half-full attitude about yourwork.

Ability to have fun, dance, and laughunder/during stressful situations (yes, seriously)

Must be authorized to work in the United States.

5+ years of dedicatedexperience in data engineering, complex data modeling, deploying machinelearning models, and scaling cloud data ecosystems.

Deep practical expertise in modern cloud dataplatforms, orchestration tools, and languages (e.g., Snowflake, Airflow, SQL,Python).

Must have the stamina to work 40 to 45 hours perweek.

Minimal travel required.

Home base is in Denver, CO at the Snooze RestaurantSupport Center (3 days a week required in office)

Denver areabase salary range: $140,000 to $170,000 per year

The base salary range above represents the low andhigh end of the Snooze salary range for this position. Actual salaries willvary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including butnot limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system,quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/ornecessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Snooze's totalcompensation package for employees.
