What does your role bring to the table?
Asignificant role in the future and growth of Snooze! This role is responsiblefor operational leadership across the Mountain West and West Coast division,supporting Snooze restaurants across multiple regional markets. The SnoozeSenior Director of Operations ensures operational excellence throughthe execution of the Snooze Compass: Guests, Snoozers, Community,Sustainability, Passion, Individuality, Craveable and Best-Of-The-Best. The Regional Director of Operation willprotect and grow the amazing Snooze culture by thoughtfully utilizing all RestaurantSupport Center (RSC) resources including Community, Sustainability, People andCulture, TLC, Technology, Finance, Culinary and Development to support Snoozerestaurants within their designated region.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Senior Director ofOperations is expected to communicate at the highest level with the RSC,Regional Managers, and management teams to ensure that communication flows toall team members clearly and in a timely manner. This role serves as the senior operationalleader for the division, with direct oversight and accountability for 5-8 RegionalManagers, who in turn lead restaurant operations within their assigned markets(30-50 restaurants). The Regional Director of Operations embodies Snoozeleadership while delivering strong financial performance, operationalexcellence, and radical hospitality within all restaurants in their dedicatedregion. This role holds vital our Snooze beliefs in people development, food,service, ambiance and of course, fun!
The PositionSpecifics
Taking on the role of Senior Director ofOperations isn't just about bacon and pancakes. The responsibilities of thisposition include:
Leadership, Accountability, and Daily Activities
Ability to hire the best-of-the-best for the division and retainstaff through development and effective communication
- Efficiency in completing job requirements by working with asense of urgency, consolidating tasks, delegating, and empowering others whilemanaging their efforts
- Create and execute sound operating plans for each region
- Collaboration with the direct Operations leader onWeekly/Period/Quarterly/Annual fiscal reporting and divisional updates
- Assist COO and Operation Services in the creation of KeyInitiatives around operational areas of focus
- Commitment to a 30-day operations activity and travel plan to beprovided to the direct leader at a minimum of two weeks in advance of thecalendar start date
- Provide ongoing feedback, clear measurable goals, performanceaccountability, and timely performance review to Regional Manager and otherdirect reports.
- Proficiency in guiding a group of leaders to achieve successthrough coaching, inspiration, motivation, and accountability
- Create a fun and exciting work environment where leaders andteams feel valued and appreciated
- Actively build genuine relationships with RSC team, RegionalManagers, and restaurant management teams
- Regular check-ins as business and relationships dictate withdirect reports
- Partner with Operations leader on content for our RegionalManager meeting and quarterly meetings
- Lead and support key projects in support of company goals,rollouts, tests and pilots as necessary
- Ensure the management teams are fully staffed, staffing pars areaccurate, and teams are built for success
- Hire and train Regional Managers that support overall divisionsuccess
- Visit all restaurants within the division at a minimum of 6times per year to assess Regional Manager effectiveness, divisional execution,and leadership development. During each restaurant visit, ensure that you coverthe following aspects: conducting a facility audit, reviewing operations,examining operating procedures and policies, assessing operations directives,and evaluating training initiatives. Dedicate a minimum of 60 minutes duringeach restaurant visit to meet with the members of management teams.
Food & Beverage Leadership
- Confirm that all policies, procedures, and systems are in placeto maintain Snooze's highest recipe and presentation standards for food andbeverage (i.e., purchasing, receiving, storage and preparation)
- Validate all menu optimizations are up to date during eachrestaurant visit
- Validate between 6-8 menu items during each restaurant visitwith the RMs in order to teach the philosophies of quality food and beverage
- Be the inspirational "food voice" for the teams to follow oneach visit speaking to the quality behind everything we do and provide feedbackand perspective on each visit
Restaurant Space and Ambiance Leadership
- Ensure that repairs and maintenance are managed and that thepreventative maintenance calendar is up to date in each restaurant
- Collaborate with RMs and Facilities Manager to confirm that allequipment issues in the restaurant are being acted on and follow-up is handledtimely and properly
- Verify that restaurants maintain Snooze cleanliness standardsvia daily cleaning. Validate paid cleaning crews are performing at or abovestandard
- Conduct quarterly walk-throughs alongside RM in all restaurantsto calibrate standards,coach leadership, and ensure divisional alignment
- Personally take pride in all aspects of cleanliness and care forthe facility and is a role model for all Regional Managers
Talent and Team Leadership
- Demonstrates critical hiring and talent selection practices
- Displays a passion for being of service to others
- Confirms that Snoozers are being cared for and that they exhibita high level of passion for Snooze, Guests, and each other in each restaurant
- Verifies that management teams are being trained at the highestlevel and that all Snooze training expectations are being followed and executed
- Ensure that all birthdays, anniversaries, and life moments arebeing celebrated for managers and that managers are executing this for allhourlies
Engages in the ongoing development of Regional Managers asdirect reports, while holding them accountable for performance and maintenanceof Snooze standards; includes the use of effective performance management andcoaching/ counseling to achieve desired management behaviors
Community and Sustainability Leadership
- Ensures the presence of sustainability practices in therestaurants as defined by the company
- Monitors waste streams and building practices
- Observe RMs practices to ensure accountability to sustainabilityas necessary
- Supports the Change Maker, Compass Champions, and LocalRestaurant Marketing programs in each restaurant and monitors theireffectiveness
- Coaches RMs and managers on waste area cleanliness and on beinga great neighbor
- Coordinates with RMs/GMs regarding support of restaurant eventsand catering commitments; ensures that the community event calendar is updated
- Encourages and participates in community engagement activitiesin all restaurant regions and actively help maintain community budgets
Fiscal Management Leadership
- Ensures restaurant sales growth year over year in accordancewith the operatingplan
- Provides continuous financial oversight to RM anddirectionforall P&L line items with specific emphasis on thecost of sales, hourly labor costs, and controllable operating expenses
- Monthly review of plangoals with RMs to identify andimplement action steps to address planvariances
- Schedule individual one-on-one meetings with each RegionalManager to discuss financial performance in comparison to the restaurant'soperating plans on a regular cadence
- Ensure the success of New Restaurant Openings financial 90-dayramp-up
- Participate in monthly financial calls with leadership toprovide insights around business opportunities within the division

- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Bachelor's degree in business, hospitality orother relevant discipline preferred
- 10+ years of related experience working inrestaurant operations management
- 5+ years of leadership experience, includingdirect supervision ofmulti-unit leaders such asRegional Managers or equivalent senior operations roles Proven track record ofmentorship, coaching, and growing leaders
Let's GetPhysical (Additional Requirements)
- Must have the stamina to work 45 to 55 hoursper week
- The travel required for this position isapproximately 50% and you must be able to travel for up to 5 days at one time(air, car, bus. Train, and weekend travel all required)
- Home base is determined by the geographicalmarketwithin the Mountain Westand West Coast division
Denver area base salary range: $140,000-$160,000per year
The base salary range above represents the lowand high end of the Snooze salary range for this position. Actual salaries willvary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including butnot limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system,quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/ornecessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Snooze's totalcompensation package for employees.
