What are fast typing jobs?

Fast typing jobs are positions that require individuals to type quickly and accurately, often to transcribe information, enter data, or create documents efficiently. These jobs can include roles such as data entry clerks, transcriptionists, administrative assistants, and content writers. Employers value speed and accuracy in these roles because they often involve processing large volumes of information within tight deadlines. Many fast typing jobs can be performed remotely, making them popular for freelancers and those seeking flexible work arrangements.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a fast typist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Fast Typist, you need excellent keyboarding speed and accuracy, along with a good understanding of grammar and spelling, often demonstrated through typing tests or certificates. Familiarity with word processing software, transcription tools, and sometimes shorthand systems is typically required. Attention to detail, time management, and the ability to concentrate for extended periods are crucial soft skills. These attributes ensure efficient, error-free work and the ability to meet tight deadlines in data entry or transcription roles.

What are some common challenges faced by fast typists in professional settings and how can they be addressed?

Fast typists often face challenges such as maintaining accuracy at high speeds, managing repetitive strain or fatigue, and ensuring effective communication when transcribing or inputting information. To address these issues, it's important to regularly take short breaks, use ergonomic equipment, and prioritize accuracy over speed when necessary. Collaborating closely with team members, especially when handling sensitive or time-critical information, also helps maintain quality and efficiency in the workflow.

Job description

Office / Scale Operations & Roll-Off Scheduling - Closing Manager
Monday-Friday | Weekends Off
10:00 AM - 7:00 PM average | Until Close, 9:00 PM max
$20-$25/hour plus overtime, based on experience
Approx. $70,000 annually to start
Christensen Recycling is hiring a reliable, detail-oriented Office / Scale Operations & Roll-Off Scheduling Closing Manager to help keep our daily operation organized, accurate, and moving.
This is not a basic office job. This is an operations-control position in a fast-paced scrap metal, catalytic converter, and roll-off dumpster business.
The right person must be comfortable answering phones, typing, using Excel, completing customer intake forms, assisting with scale operations, scheduling roll-off jobs, communicating with drivers, live-dispatching calls to field buyers, monitoring yard cameras, and keeping the owner informed of recurring issues by email.
Accuracy and communication are extremely important. Missed calls, dispatch mistakes, poor paperwork, scheduling errors, or yard delays can directly affect revenue, customer service, and daily operations.
Responsibilities include:
  • Answer phones and collect accurate customer information
  • Complete customer intake forms and job details
  • Assist with scale traffic and customer check-ins
  • Use Excel and internal systems to track jobs, schedules, and paperwork
  • Help manage roll-off dumpster scheduling, pickups, deliveries, and job status
  • Dispatch live calls and opportunities to OTR drivers in the correct territory
  • Communicate with drivers, office staff, and customers throughout the day
  • Monitor yard cameras for material flow, dumpster movement, and bottlenecks
  • Help prevent missed dumps, yard congestion, unsafe material placement, or delays
  • Email Ken, the owner, with recurring problems, patterns, or communication breakdowns
  • Support billing details, paperwork accuracy, and administrative follow-up
  • Help keep the office, scale, yard, drivers, and daily operation organized and under control

Ideal candidate:
  • Reliable, focused, and dependable
  • Good with computers, typing, Excel, and tracking systems
  • Comfortable answering phones and dealing with customers
  • Organized and able to multitask in a busy environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Able to communicate clearly with drivers, office staff, and management
  • Comfortable working around a yard/industrial environment
  • Able to stay calm, structured, and accurate during a fast-moving day

The goal is simple: keep the office, phones, scale, roll-off scheduling, live dispatch, yard flow, paperwork, and problem reporting running clean and tight every day
Compensation: $23.00 per hour
