Job description

Organized in 1899, VF Corporation is a global leader in the design, manufacture, marketing and distribution of branded lifestyle apparel, footwear and accessories. Our highly diversified portfolio of brands spans multiple geographies, product categories, consumer demographics and sales channels.

Your ROLE with us

icebreaker is looking for an exceptional Technical Designer to join our team based in Stabio, Switzerland.

Driven by the belief that nature has the answers, we provide natural performance alternatives to synthetic‑based apparel. We aim to create a healthier and more sustainable future for our species and the planet.

Responsibilities
  • Concept Translation & Technical Realisation: Work closely with Design and Product Development teams to interpret and translate creative concepts into accurate physical and digital patterns using advanced pattern‑making techniques. Leverage CAD and digital pattern tools to create detailed and scalable patterns, develop digital 3D product samples for virtual fittings, and simulate garment behaviour to ensure design intent aligns with technical feasibility and ergonomic performance.

  • End‑to‑End Product Excellence: Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to refine patterns, troubleshoot fit challenges, and implement innovative solutions. Seek manufacturing improvement initiatives focused on fit and optimal garment performance.

  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Liaise between internal departments (Innovation, Design, Product Development) and external stakeholders (Vendor base). Establish strong relationships, facilitate transparent communication, and align on quality benchmarks.

  • Project Management: Manage project timelines for seasonal and non‑seasonal products, ensuring cross‑functional alignment and on‑time delivery of digital patterns, virtual prototypes, and sample management systems. Use agile methodologies to keep projects on track.

  • Data Management: Maintain and update the digital pattern and virtual sample database, ensuring integrity and accuracy across all product lines.

  • Product Fitting: Prepare for sample reviews by measuring, pre‑fitting, and scheduling fit sessions. Guide teams through fit sessions to refine product fit, function, and construction, delivering on‑time pattern revisions for vendors.

  • Continuous Improvement & Feedback: Analyse market feedback and product performance data to refine existing products and influence future development efforts, focusing on process improvement, fit, comfort, and functionality.

Skills for Success
  • Vision: A trained eye for proportion and balance with a keen eye on evolving fit, performance, and digital prototyping trends.

  • Values: Commitment to sustainability and ethical production practices while ensuring precise fit and quality.

  • Expertise: Deep understanding of garment engineering, patternmaking/grading (traditional and digital), 3D modelling, and fit optimisation.

  • Collaboration: Proven success in cross‑functional teams, partnering with designers, product developers, and external vendors.

  • Communication: Translate complex pattern and fit details into clear guidance for internal teams and vendors.

  • Agility: Organise and prioritise workload across multi‑phase projects, manage critical paths, and adapt to international time zones.

  • Professionalism: Strong time management, interpersonal skills, and a calm, objective approach to conflict.

Education & Experience
  • A university bachelor or master’s degree in Fashion Technology, Industrial Design, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or certifications in digital patternmaking and 3D prototyping are advantageous.

  • Good computer literacy: proficient in Microsoft Office & Adobe CC, CAD software (Gerber, Lectra, Optitex), and 3D simulation tools (CLO 3D, Browzwear).

  • Several years of experience in technical pattern engineering and digital product creation roles within the apparel industry. Experience in the outdoor performance or sustainable apparel sector is highly preferred.

Benefits
  • A supportive feedback‑based culture guided by respect and integrity.
  • An inclusive international environment where diverse backgrounds thrive.
  • Opportunity to be part of an iconic lifestyle brand across multiple countries.
  • On‑site gym and health & well‑being initiatives.
  • Discount card with 50% on all VF brands.
  • Break‑out areas with complimentary hot drinks.
Free to Be, Inclusion & Diversity

As an equal–opportunity employer, we foster a culture of belonging built on respect, connection, openness, and authenticity. We are committed to celebrating diversity and allowing associates to bring their authentic selves to work every day.
