Summary
Join our team as a Catch Crew Worker and make a direct impact at the very start of our production process! In this active, outdoor role, you'll work directly with live poultry using specialized collection machinery designed to gently scoop birds onto a conveyor system and place them into drawers at the proper rate for safe transport to our processing plant. You'll support loading activities, help secure and maintain equipment, and assist with sanitation to keep operations running safely and efficiently. If you're a hands-on team player who enjoys physical work, teamwork, and being part of the action from the very start, this role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a safe and successful production journey.
This position has a base rate of $26.70-27.60 per hour, with opportunities for pay premiums, shift differentials and overtime where applicable. Annual bonus available (variable depending on performance).
In addition to hourly wages, Perdue offers a competitive benefits package, including medical/Rx, 401(k) with employer match after 1 year, critical illness, accident insurance, dental, vision, life insurance, optional group life insurance, short-term and long-term disability protection, flexible spending accounts and paid time off.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00pm-3:30pm
Principal Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Responsible for catching of all Broiler Chicks in a safe, efficient, and effective manner.
  • Assist in equipment maintenance and sanitation.
  • Adhere to all safety requirements including PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), preventing and reporting unsafe acts and conditions, Lockout-Tagout procedures and Process Safety Management related matters.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Participate in Company and department safety programs.

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Minimum of 6 months of consecutive work history with one employer within the past 3 years in a comparable field.

Preferred Education and Experience
  • High School or equivalent is beneficial but not required.
  • Experience in a poultry processing/manufacturing environment.

Physical Requirements and Environmental Factors
When in a plant environment:
  • Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.
  • May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity.
  • May handle products from 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db.
  • May be exposed to dust, feathers and all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility.
  • Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company.
  • Occasional exposure to carbon dioxide vapors 10ppm and chlorine less than 20 ppm.
  • Able to stand for several hours.
  • Work may include lifting (up to 50 lbs), reaching, bending, pushing boxes on conveyor assembly.
