Job description

Job Summary

The Corporate Farm Supervisor will not only direct but also actively participating in the daily operations of all corporate owned breeder and growout farms providing leadership, training, and direction along with helping the team accomplish everyday tasks. This position will ensure daily operations and animal welfare practices are in compliance with company standards.

 

Essential Job Functions

The essential duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

·         Provide hands on leadership and coaching to team members to ensure strong results through effective performance management and development planning.

·         Developing and implementing a solid strategic plan with the Breeder & Growout Manager while balancing the immediate needs with the long-term goals of the company.

·         Reports weekly trends of mortality, marketability, FCR, weights and cost at team meetings..

·         Responsible for participating in daily activities on farms to ensure team is completing tasks effectively and efficiently and work along team if needed.

·         Responsible for driving efficiencies, including labor and facility performance, while maintaining Company animal welfare standards.

·         Develop and implement operational processes and ensure accountability with change management with all levels of staff.

·         Responsible developing capital project proposals for management that result in a return on investments through optimal bird performance. 

·         Work with Production team by advising on weights of incoming birds to help production develop weekly plant schedule.

·         Responsible for scheduling, getting team on site, and participating in vaccinations, counts, and moves of all breeders and working with team if needed.

·         Maintain safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, complying with legal codes and regulations.

·         Report any animal welfare related issues to management immediately.

·         Report any potential Food Safety issues to management immediately.

·         Report any damages to company vehicles, equipment, and buildings via maintenance work order software program.

·         Comply with all company policies and procedures.

·         Conduct weekly farm visits on company owned farms to evaluate compliance with company standards in regards animal welfare, biosecurity, flock health, and facility and lagoon conditions. Identify opportunities for improvement and communicate corrective actions accordingly.  

·         Request work orders for necessary on farm repairs for each corporate farm.

·         Proficiency in Microsoft office suite (Excel, Word, & Outlook)

·         Any other tasks as assigned by Management

 

Minimum Required Qualifications

The minimum required qualifications for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

·         Bachelor’s degree in related field, preferred.

·         Minimum 5 years of demonstrated supervisory experience in related field, required; poultry or livestock preferred.

·         Bilingual English/Spanish required.

·         Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record, required.

·         Ability to effectively manage multiple locations, plan a weekly schedule and organize multiple activities.

·         Ability to travel and cover a large geographical area in a given day.

·         Outstanding communication skills.

·         Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

·         Ability to independently make decisions with minimum supervision.

·         Ability to multitask and effectively prioritize workload.

·         Knowledge of animal welfare and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

·         Advanced personal computer skills: Working knowledge of Excel and Outlook.

·         Strong teamwork skills with a willingness to assist others.

·         Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

·         Ability to comply with all company policies and procedures.

 

Physical Demands

The physical requirements/environmental factors for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

·         Must be able to walk, bend, and stand for extended periods of time.

·         Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance and 100 pounds with assistance.

·         Must be able to drive for extended periods of time.

·         Exposure to odors, fumes, airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, and microbiological pathogens.

·         Ability to safely ascend/descend stairs.
