Job description

Location: Omaha, NE - onsite

At Farmers National Company, we do more than manage land—we build lasting relationships, support rural communities, and help landowners care for what matters most. As a 100% employee-owned company (ESOP), every team member has a direct stake in our success, creating a culture of ownership, collaboration, and long-term stability. If you’re looking for a place where your work genuinely makes an impact—and where you can grow your career, we’d love to meet you.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a detail-oriented Farm & Ranch Accounting Trainee to join our team. In this role, you’ll support the financial side of our farm operations by processing transactions, partnering with Farm Managers, and helping ensure accurate, timely reporting for our clients.

If you enjoy working with numbers, staying organized, and being part of a team that values accuracy and service, this is a great opportunity to build a career in accounting within the agriculture industry.

What You’ll Do

  • Process daily income and expense transactions for managed farms
  • Communicate with Farm Managers regarding billing and ticket processing
  • Perform daily, monthly, and annual account reconciliations
  • Support compliance with tax regulations
  • Assist with client account management and communication
  • Prioritize and manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines
  • Take on additional responsibilities as needed

What You Bring

  • Associate’s degree or 4+ years of related experience
  • 1+ year of accounts payable/receivable experience
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel and Word)
  • Experience with EnterpriseOne or similar systems is a plus
  • Agricultural background helpful, but not required

What You’ll Experience Here

  • A supportive, team-oriented environment
  • Employee ownership (ESOP) – your work contributes to your future
  • Stability in a well-established, trusted company
  • Opportunities to learn, grow, and build a long-term career
  • A culture grounded in integrity, respect, and service

Work Environment

This position is primarily office-based, with regular computer use. Occasional light lifting (under 40 lbs) and minimal travel (~5%) may be required.

What We Value

We’re looking for team members who:

  • Act with integrity and treat others with respect
  • Communicate clearly and work collaboratively
  • Take pride in accuracy and quality
  • Adapt and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
  • Provide excellent service to both internal teams and clients

If you’re ready to grow your accounting career while making a meaningful impact in agriculture, we encourage you to apply!
