Job description

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE
A Service Technician will perform mid-level and advanced diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on farm equipment to fulfill customer's satisfaction. The Service Technician is labeled as such because this person has acquired advanced knowledge and experience that is required to be a successful and contributing team member. A successful Service Technician will perform the following tasks in a way that reflects H&R Agri-Power's mission to provide quality products/service at a fair price to afford a reasonable return on assets.
This position receives an hourly wage that is based on experience and knowledge. This position will also receive quarterly incentive bonuses that are based on job performance and output during that quarter.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Inspect and identify mechanical defects on farm equipment.
  • Determine appropriate vendor, navigate database to retrieve technical manuals, schematics, and procedures to determine the extent of repairs necessary.
  • Analyze and comprehend technical manuals, schematics, drawings, procedures, and government regulations.
  • Repair and/or replace components of a diesel engine's hydraulics, AC system, Electrical and Suspension systems, drive trains, steering, material handling, and operator comfort systems.
  • Carry out all mid-level and/or advanced repairs to ensure that equipment is returned to full mechanical and technical operation and the customer's needs have been fulfilled. When finished, check equipment and work to verify accuracy and quality.
  • Perform periodic maintenance, as needed, by lubing, checking, and filling fluids, replacing proper pieces and parts to ensure equipment remains in optimal condition.
  • Keep customers updated on prices, unforeseen repairs and/or maintenance and time frames for each task being completed.
  • Use basic knowledge to operate power tools, hand tools, sotters, welders, forklifts, heavy machinery, cranes, and other potentially dangerous machinery in the proper manner, with caution and complying with all company and government procedures and regulations.
  • Receive tickets from the Service Manager and complete work in a timely manner with little supervision.
  • Document repairs, maintenance, and parts used to complete the job per company standards.
  • Communicate with the Service Manager and Parts department to retrieve or order the appropriate parts to complete a service ticket.
  • Maintain a clean work area.
  • At all times, this person will perform all tasks, duties, and procedures in a manner that is safe for themselves and others by adhering to company and government standards
  • Complete all training that is assigned by deadlines set by vendors.
  • Maintain knowledge on all of the equipment and products H&R Agri-Power is currently offering. Remain up to date on new industry upgrades or technology.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned by Service, Parts, or Store Management.
  • Maintain a positive, professional, and safe work environment by interacting with peers, management and support resources in a way that promotes teamwork and a commitment to excellence.

Requirements
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience navigating a computer.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Diesel/Heavy Equipment Tech.
  • Heavy Equipment or Diesel Tech. degree preferred, but not required.
  • Agriculture experience preferred, but not required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to move around the dealership building and grounds without assistance.
  • Ability to repeatedly bend, crouch, kneel, stand, reach, grasp, crawl, walk, or climb.
  • Ability to climb in, out of, and under large farm equipment.
  • Ability to operate all equipment in a safe and proper manner.
  • Ability to lift 10 pounds regularly, lift up-to 25 pounds frequently and occasionally lift 80 pounds.
  • Possess a visual acuity that will allow you to see small cracks, holes, and parts.
  • Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment or outside in inclement weather.
