OVERVIEW
The Water Control Technician is responsible for supporting daily farm water-management operations by installing, relocating, and maintaining pumps, coordinating with equipment operators, and ensuring all pump systems meet safety and operational standards. This role requires strong communication, routine maintenance skills, accurate record-keeping, and the ability to keep pump sites clean, organized, and functioning efficiently. The technician works closely with the Farm Manager, Ag Techs, and other field staff to ensure proper water flow, respond to operational needs, assist with spills or cleanup, and support overall farm productivity.
ESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES)
  • Ability to move and install, relocate pumps in/out as needed.
  • Ability to coordinate with backhoe operator for pump installation.
  • Ability to complete pump maintenance Inspections; grease, fluid levels, belt adjustments, check hydraulic systems, report any damages to the shop or supervisor.
  • Ability to communicate and comply with safety standards.
  • Ability to place booms out by pump stations where needed.
  • Ensure that all pumps comply with all the safety standards
  • Ability to comply with pump maintenance schedules.
  • Ability to maintain logs on a routine basis.
  • Maintain truck and lifting gear clear and organized
  • Ensure area surrounding pumps is clear or free of weeds
  • Operate pumps as needed and communicate with Farm Manager or Ag. Tech
  • Ability to communicate when inventory and supplies are needed
  • Assist with spills and clean up
  • Other farm duties
