Camp Season - Summer 2026
Job Summary
Plans, coordinates, supervises, and evaluates the day-to-day operations of the camp dining hall; ensures the dining hall operates in compliance with health standards and regulations; supervises, schedules, evaluates, and participates in the work of dining hall personnel, including the Camp Dining Room Attendants, Camp Dishwashers, and Camp Kitchen Assistants.
Essential Functions
  • Plans, schedules, assigns, and supervises the work of dining hall attendants, dishwashers, and kitchen assistants; trains and instructs employees in the proper methods and procedures; monitors work in progress and upon completion to ensure quality standards and health regulations are enforced.
  • Must follow all Site and Food Service Accreditation Standards set forth by the American Camp Association.
  • Maintain personal hygiene according to health regulations (e.g., handwashing, hair put back, closed-toe shoes, etc.).
  • Rotates assignments of Camp Dining Room Attendants (i.e., serving line, head table, restrooms, mopping, etc.).
  • Ensures all Camp Dining Room Attendants, Camp Dishwashers, and Camp Kitchen Assistants report for duty on time.
  • Assigns Camp Dining Room Attendants to pre-meal setup duties, serving line, and after-meal clean up.
  • Oversees the maintenance and sanitation of the dining room equipment and furnishings.
  • Inventory and replenish any materials needed for the dining room's operation.
  • Ensures that enough food is prepared for the number of campers to be served and that it is prepared in a timely manner, as scheduled.
  • Ensures that kitchen facilities use only clean and sanitized utensils and equipment during food preparation.
  • Keeps personal living quarters neat, clean, and ready for inspection.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to meet attendance requirements.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
  • Ability to observe children and youth and ensure their safety.
  • Some physical requirements of the Camp Dining Hall Supervisor position could be endurance, including climbing, standing, some bending, stooping, and stretching.
  • Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity are required to manipulate dining hall equipment and participate in activities.
  • Requires a normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/programs, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Working Conditions
  • Have a willingness to live in a camp setting and to work irregular hours, delivering a program at the facility available.
  • Operate with daily exposure to the sun, heat, and varying environmental conditions.

Education and Experience
  • Two years of progressively responsible experience in food service management, with at least six months of experience in a supervisory capacity preferred.
