Description
JOB FUNCTION:
As a Campus Refrigeration Technician you will monitor, maintain, and repair different types of heating and cooling systems throughout the Fareway Meat & Grocery Boone Campus. Your attention to detail and background in refrigeration technology will help us maintain efficient operation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Start up, test and observe systems to ensure proper function for its operating life
  • Service & maintain existing systems
  • Follow refrigeration best practices, keeping up on industry standards
  • Troubleshoot and repair heating and cooling systems of all types and sizes
  • Use Computerized Maintenance Management System
  • Other duties as assigned

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to understand technical instructions, written and verbal
  • Ability to use various tools effectively and safely
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proven ability to work independently
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Electrical and mechanical skills are necessary
  • Ability to multitask and handle multiple priorities
  • Basic math skills are required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Previous experience in industrial or storage type refrigeration settings
  • Refrigeration schooling or certifications
  • Experience in performing advanced HVAC diagnosis, maintenance, and repair
  • Basic plumbing knowledge
  • Basic electrical knowledge
  • Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems. CARO, CIRO, Operator I, Operator II, Operator III / Technician I, CRST certifications are a plus

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Must be able to climb stairs, climb ladders, bend, kneel, twist, reach, and pull frequently.
  • Must be able to lift items more than 50 lbs. occasionally, 25 lbs. frequently, and 10 - 20 lbs. Continuously

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Exposure to varying temperatures depending on building:
    • Some jobs occur in room temperature rooms, 60°F - 85°F
    • Some jobs occur in refrigerated rooms, 28°F - 45°F
    • Some jobs occur in freezer rooms, -20°F - 0°F
    • Some jobs occur in varying ambient outdoor conditions
  • Campus warehouses have a noisy and busy environment; employees must always remain alert.
