Job description

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer provides engineering support in the areas of manufacturing processes, process documentation, manufacturing engineering, systems, procedures, equipment, tooling, and facilities. This position leads complex engineering assignments and team projects with multiple departmental interactions regarding all manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities 

1. Work safely to prevent on the job injuries by following Company and OSHA safety rules and regulations, understanding machine safeguards, recognizing and reporting safety hazards, wearing required PPE.

2. Lead manufacturing engineering support in the areas of fixture design, part inspection, process automation, CNC programming, and Fanuc robotics.

3. Participate in operational and financial analysis to recommend new tooling and equipment to provide improved manufacturing processes, increased quality and reduced cost.

4. Utilize problem solving skills to analyze manufacturing difficulties to determine root cause and define corrective actions.

5. Provide leadership, direction, technical support, training and assistance to other manufacturing team members. Work closely with manufacturing technicians and maintenance staff to ensure down machines are quickly brought back into production.

6. Implement and revise manufacturing documentation for machine work instructions, troubleshooting, tooling tables, and inspection sheets. Maintain structured database to ensure documents are appropriately organized.

7. Writes technical reports to document engineering analysis and findings. Ability to use pivot tables to sort through data. Use of Excel for data analysis and PowerPoint for presenting reports.

8. Lead the implementation of World-Class Principles (i.e.: T.Q.M., Kanban, Demand Flow, and Cellular Manufacturing) to improve customer satisfaction and reduce waste.

9. Produce accurate engineering drawings using 3D Modeling, CAD for fixtures and tooling.

10. Provide manufacturing engineering support in the areas of machine availability, OEE, performance, cost, machine capability, throughput, and ontime delivery.

11. Perform other duties as assigned .

70% of time spent on the production floor.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (appropriate for the assigned area) and five (5) year experience.
  • Must possess basic knowledge of tooling design methods and machine tool programming.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office and CAD software.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written.
  • Ability to communicate and work as a team member.
