Job description

We are McCarthy Chevrolet of Overland Park, a proud member of the McCarthy Auto Group. Currently, we are looking for a highly skilled technician with a strong background in diagnostic abilities and a solid background in automotive repair, preferably with GM Certifications to join our team. Our shop is union- operated and led by a former technician who understands what it takes to succeed in the service bay. We've invested in creating a great work environment including a brand-new air-conditioning system in the shop, new lifts, and alignment machine, not to mention some of the best pay in the market. We also offer guaranteed hours, and an employee covered benefits package. Our schedule supports work-life balance with rotating weekends with only 1 Saturday every 6 weeks.

Job Requirements:
  • GM Certifications Highly Preferred
  • Diagnostic expertise required
  • 3+ years of dealership automotive repair experience required
  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification preferred
  • Proven experience in automotive maintenance and repair
  • Ability to test drive vehicles is mandatory.
  • Team player with positive attitude
  • Ability to arrive at work on time prepared for the day.

Job Duties:
  • Effectively diagnose and repair vehicle automotive needs including brake systems, HVAC issues, powertrain failure, electrical system malfunctions and etc. with proficiency and accuracy.
  • Perform warranty repairs and recalls in compliance with manufacturer specifications.
  • Build accurate repair estimates.
  • Relay needed vehicle repairs to advisors through effective communication.
  • Perform video multipoint inspection on every repair order to ensure customers are aware of currently needed items and upcoming issues.
  • Document the Cause and Correction on repair orders.
  • Look up service bulletins, follow GM diagnostic tree, and look up repair time.
  • Provide all supporting documentation needed for factory warranty coverage.
  • Quality check repairs for workmanship and cleanliness. Test drive vehicle for repair verification.
  • Stay up to date with GM technician training path to maintain GM compliance.
  • Keep work area clean and clear of fall hazards.
  • Keep track of daily flagged hours.
  • Adhere to the daily operating policies and procedures of the Dealership, the Manufacturer (GM), and the Union.
  • Maintain a professional open line of communication when interacting with customers as well as other employees.
