Job Description

Johnson County Wastewater (JCW) is responsible for the safe collection, transportation and treatment of wastewater generated by our community.   • Under general supervision, completes a variety of routine, semi-skilled, and manual tasks in the completion of wastewater collection system cleaning and inspection; works on an assigned crew providing assistance and support for routine labor tasks, such as pulling hoses, setting up traffic control for work sites and flagging, removing debris from sewer lines, preparing materials and tools, cleaning holding tanks, sewer lines, and other areas using high pressure hoses, saw blades, and other equipment, and taking inventory of materials on a work truck.
  • Operates a limited variety of light duty equipment, and tools; follows established safety protocols for completion of safety sensitive work, such as wearing required personal protective equipment and following guidelines and directions for confined space entries.
Job Requirements

Minimum Job Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent and a regular driver's license with an acceptable driving record are required.  This is a temporary trainee position with a maximum employment duration of three months for full-time employment.  Trainees must pass the written part of exam within four months and obtain their Class B CDL with air brake and tanker endorsement within six months in order to continue employment as a Line Cleaning and Inspection Crew Member I or II

Johnson County Government requires reference/background screening for all positions.  Specified criteria may vary by Department/Agency.

Preferred Job Requirements:

One year of experience with light, medium, or heavy duty equipment is preferred.
