Fall Graphic Design Internship information

What is a fall graphic design internship?

A Fall Graphic Design Internship is a temporary, entry-level position offered during the autumn months, typically to students or recent graduates interested in gaining practical experience in graphic design. Interns work under the supervision of professional designers, assisting with tasks such as creating digital and print materials, developing branding assets, and contributing to marketing campaigns. These internships help interns build their portfolios, learn industry-standard software, and develop teamwork and communication skills within a real-world design environment. Completion of a fall internship can also improve job prospects and provide valuable networking opportunities.

What types of projects and responsibilities can I expect during a fall graphic design internship?

As a Fall Graphic Design Intern, you'll typically work on a variety of design projects such as creating digital assets for social media, assisting with print collateral, and supporting branding initiatives. You may collaborate closely with marketing teams, copywriters, and other designers, gaining hands-on experience in real-world workflows. Interns often participate in brainstorming sessions, receive feedback on their work, and learn how to adapt designs to meet brand guidelines and client needs. This experience is a great opportunity to build your portfolio, improve your technical skills, and understand the daily operations of a professional design team.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a fall graphic design intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Fall Graphic Design Intern, you need a solid understanding of design principles, proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign), and a portfolio showcasing your creative work, often supported by coursework in graphic design. Familiarity with digital design tools and platforms, as well as basic knowledge of web design or motion graphics, is commonly required. Strong attention to detail, creativity, time management, and the ability to accept constructive feedback set standout interns apart. These skills are vital for producing effective visual communications, meeting deadlines, and contributing positively to collaborative design projects.

  • Collaborate with Communications & Partnerships on campaigns and events

  • Work with manufacturing partners to help design items such as clothing, toys, and other products used in fundraising initiatives

  • Participate in structured execution sessions with fast turnaround timelines

  • Maintain high creative standards across all work

What Makes This Different

  • Direct collaboration with the Founder and executive leadership

  • Ownership of real-world creative tied to live events and campaigns

  • Portfolio-building work with real visibility and real-world application
