Job Description

The Quality Engineer Co-op is a support role responsible for planning, facilitating, and stabilizing continuous improvements within a production sector; namely, a manufacturing Value Stream.

This role creates and sustains improvement processes, metrics, and tools, supporting key deliverables in the areas of safety, quality, delivery, cost reduction, growth, and innovation, and these deliverables include (but not limited to):

Will support cross-functional continuous improvement projects in all aspects of the Value Stream, focusing continually on production processes, work methods, waste reduction, and problem-solving methods through lean principles, tools, concepts, and methodologies.ย 

Supporting Job Elements:

  • Assist in continuous improvement projects
  • Day to day support activities but not limited to inspection, sorting, fixture design, assembly
  • Assist in measurement system analysis on various gauges
  • Review and analyze technical data, drawings, and work instructions to identify and resolve quality issues
  • Assist with valve and/or test stand troubleshooting
  • Assist Quality Engineers with reviews of performance data, in evaluation and validation of supplier change requests along with driving improvements in suppliers delivered quality for both new product and existing products
  • Review returned material and verifies customer complaints through root cause analysis
  • Assist with test data entry and collection, and statistical analysis
  • Create and modify existing systems that track our metrics
  • Create, improve on documentation such as control plans, FMEAs, WI, and process flow
  • Participate in team meetings with Quality Engineers, supporting various tasks
  • Support implementation of continuous improvement activities in production environment
  • Assist in closing open finding from internal/customer audits
  • Perform other essential and related peripheral duties as may be assigned
Qualifications
  • Current student enrolled in Engineering program
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team and to lead small project group.
  • Proficient in Excel, Outlook, Word, Visio, Power Point
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
