Faith Formation Assistant

Parish Name: Guardian Angels Catholic Church

Location: 9310 Dalehurst Rd, Santee, CA 92071

Reports to: Pastor

Employment Type: Part Time

Hours: up to 19 hours per week

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Pay Rate: $18.00 per hour

Position Summary

The Faith Formation Assistant provides support in the general operations of the supervisor. This position assists in but not limited to performing clerical functions, digital literacy, extensive data entry, maintaining and creating databases, preparing flyers, materials, scheduling and setting up meetings.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform clerical/secretarial duties for Faith Formation
  • Answer telephones professional and direct calls appropriately
  • Respond to inquiries from catechist and participants of Faith Formation
  • Schedule meetings and assist in the organization of departmental events (both onsite & offsite)
  • Schedules rooms for meetings and events, provides set up and hospitality when needed
  • Data entry - update contact lists, transcripts, sacramental certificates of students and certification for all catechists
  • Prepare and send regular mailings and FlockNote messages
  • Attend planning meetings when appropriate
  • Prepares materials for Faith Formation, processes registrations, certificates and permanent record cards
  • Assists with email and social media communication
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge and familiarity with the organizational structure and practices of the Roman Catholic Church and its diverse members

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Catholic Faith with experience in evangelization and catechetical terminology.
  • Experience with computers including knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office, Publisher applications, Google programming, and standard business practice.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills and excellent customer service.
  • Ability to prioritize work assignments.
  • Knowledgeable in social media communication.
  • Flexibility to adjust to changes in schedule, routines, and job assignments.
  • Work collaboratively with Parish staff and accept constructive feedback.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent/GED.
  • Bilingual & Biliterate (English/Spanish) preferred.

Physical Demands

The employee is required to be mobile to, from, and within the office, as well as maneuver throughout the parish facilities to attend meetings, briefings, and other work-related events. The employee may be required to conduct trips to, from, and within various city and county-wide locations to attend meetings or events. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
