Veterinarian Position

Merrifield Animal Hospital is an AAHA-accredited, small animal practice serving Fairfax, VA since the 1950s. We are seeking an experienced veterinarian to join our collaborative, experienced team.

About the Practice

  • We serve 100% small animal (dogs & cats)
  • Standalone hospital with 3 exam rooms
  • Recently renovated surgical, dental, and treatment areas
  • Future renovations planned for lobby and exam rooms

Our hospital offers onsite boarding and Doggie Daycare with no on-call responsibilities, is supported by multiple long-tenured LVTs and a 2:1 assistant-to-doctor ratio, and includes an AAFP Cat Friendly Practitioner on staff. Doctors see an average of approximately 15 patients per day with 30-minute appointments, allowing time for thorough, high-quality care.

Notable services and equipment include digital general & dental radiology, brand-new ultrasound, cold laser therapy, separate dental and surgical suites, and holistic alternative care.

Schedule & Work-Life Balance

  • 4-day work week; every third Saturday (8:00amโ€“4:00pm) with a weekday off
  • Typical hours: 8:00amโ€“5:00pm (one rotating 10:00amโ€“7:00pm shift)
