What is a fair?

A Fair job typically involves organizing, managing, or working at events such as trade shows, county fairs, job fairs, or community festivals. Responsibilities can range from event planning and vendor coordination to customer service and logistics. Roles vary widely, including event staff, promoters, security, and vendors. These jobs may be temporary or seasonal, depending on the type of fair.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a fair manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Fair Manager, you need strong event planning, organizational, and budgeting skills, often supported by a background in hospitality management or business administration. Familiarity with event management software, vendor management systems, and safety regulations is typically required. Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and crisis management skills help you build relationships with vendors, staff, and attendees. These abilities ensure smooth event execution, safety, and a positive experience for all participants.

What are some common challenges someone in a fair manager role might face, and how can they be addressed?

Fair Managers often encounter challenges such as coordinating large teams of staff and volunteers, managing logistics for multiple vendors and exhibitors, and ensuring safety and compliance with local regulations. These demands require strong organizational skills, adaptability, and effective communication. Building a reliable support team, establishing clear procedures, and maintaining open lines of communication with all stakeholders can help address these challenges and ensure a successful event.

Job description

If you’ve been looking for an opportunity where you can use your full skillset, see a variety of cases, and make a real impact, this is it.

Payson Pet Care has been a trusted part of this community for over 20 years, and with the nearest ER over an hour away, our team plays an important role in caring for both routine and more urgent cases.  You’ll have the opportunity to practice a blend of GP and urgent care-style medicine, with the flexibility to shape the role around your strengths.

The Lifestyle (and Why People Stay)

Located just 90 miles from Phoenix, Payson offers a completely different pace of life:

  • Cooler temperatures and fresh mountain air
  • Easy access to hiking, lakes, and outdoor recreation
  • A close-knit, welcoming community
  • Less traffic, less pressure — more balance

And importantly — no after-hours and no holidays.

This is a great fit for someone who wants to enjoy their work and their life outside of it.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Base Salary: $130,000–$150,000, depending on experience
  • Signing Bonus: Up to $30,000
  • Opportunity for production-based bonuses
  • Relocation assistance
  • Medical, dental, vision insurance
  • PTO + paid holidays
  • CE allowance, licensing, and dues covered
  • Mentorship and ongoing training

About Our Hospital
  • AAHA-accredited (only one within a 90-mile radius)
  • 5,000 sq. ft. hospital with room to practice comfortably
  • 4 exam rooms + dedicated compassion room
  • Double surgery suite + full in-house lab
  • Digital radiology (including dental)
  • Ultrasound, laser therapy, cautery
  • No boarding or grooming
  • Strong support team with a 2:1 tech-to-doctor ratio (3:1 when solo)

Our Approach

We prioritize:

  • High-quality, thoughtful medicine
  • Clear and compassionate client communication
  • A positive, collaborative team environment
  • Supporting each other’s growth and development

What We’re Looking For
  • DVM or VMD from an AVMA-accredited institution
  • Licensed (or able to become licensed) in Arizona
  • Comfortable with general medicine; interest in urgent care is a plus
  • Confidence in dentistry, soft tissue surgery, and internal medicine (or a desire to grow)
  • Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset

Open to both experienced veterinarians and new graduates.

A Different Kind of Opportunity

This role is ideal for someone who wants:

  • More variety and hands-on medicine
  • A strong connection to the community
  • A slower pace without sacrificing professional growth

If you want something that feels a little different from the typical metro clinic, in a good way, this could be worth exploring!
