Job description

America's second oldest horse racing track, the Fair Grounds has been a New Orleans staple since 1852. We are a premiere entertainment venue presenting thoroughbred & exotic animal races, slots, video poker and simulcasting year-round. Located in New Orleans, Fair Grounds operates a slot-machine gaming facility and 13 off-track betting parlors throughout southeast Louisiana.

JOB SUMMARY

May reconcile daily summaries of transactions to balance books. May accept patron's credit application and verify credit references to provide check-cashing authorization or to establish house credit accounts. May use a cash register or computer to record transaction.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

•             Safeguards the cage bank assets.

•             Adheres to all cage department policies

•             Handles all guest exchanges of tickets for cash

•             Cashes guest checks within established limits in compliance with check cashing policies.

•             Exchanges foreign currency for customers at “posted” discount rates.

•             Communicates with slot personnel concerning guest credit information.

•             Verifies and provides funds for and records jackpot payouts.

•             Handles fill transactions for other slot personnel.

•             Exchanges currency for slips.

•             Verify soft count funds accepted into Main Bank accountability (acting in the capacity of Main Banker).

•             Performs related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must be 21 years old, and able to obtain a gaming license from Louisiana State Police and a Racing license from Louisiana Racing Commisson. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Related experience and/or training, Extensive cash handling experience.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Ability to read, analyze and interpret common documentation. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from team members, regulatory agencies or members of the staff. Ability to write and present information to management in a reasonable manner. Ability to perform normal mathematical computations about the implementation of current duties. Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts and draws valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several variables.  

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS

Constant wrist motion, sit, hear and eye/hand coordination; Frequently speak, read, write, stand, walk, bend and stoop; Occasionally lift, carry, push and pull. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
