Job description

Our client is looking to fill the role of Designer Girls Casual Apparel. We are working on a possible temp to perm role with a top company - focus on girls sportswear - casual for a new brand. Role is full-time hours in their midtown office - 4 days onsite and 1 remote each week.
  • $40-45 an hour plus option of overtime if needed. Also, could go higher for the right fit.

Responsibilities:
  • Design level: 47+ years of experience in girls sportswear, specifically sizes 716.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, with strong expertise in Illustrator.
  • Develop original artwork, including graphic art, prints, and patterns.
  • Create and prepare production-ready artwork files for factories.
  • Review submits and strike-offs, provide detailed comments, and communicate revisions to factories.
  • Strong graphic design skills; responsible for developing original graphics.
  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
  • Execute the seasonal design development process from concept through delivery, creating original, trend-appropriate designs that meet market needs and drive sales.

Strategy & Innovation
  • Research and identify seasonal trend directions and conduct competitive analysis.
  • Pull and review fabrics, design concepts, presentation boards, mock-ups, color-ups, and inspirational imagery for design meetings.
  • Execute initial seasonal design concepts within the broader assortment and cost structure.

Operations & Results
  • Design according to style plans, sales needs, and emerging trends while ensuring timely execution of the product development calendar.
  • Create Illustrator sketches and review specification sheets and line sheets.
  • Maintain accurate product development logs, line sheets, design boards, and design archive libraries.
  • Maintain designs and product information within PLM systems and shared drives.
  • Select and review raw materials and trims while maintaining fabric and trim libraries.
  • Approve lab dips with Senior Designers and ensure consistency with color standards and licensor directives, where applicable.
  • Review prints and graphics, recommend revisions, and manage the fit process.

Customers & Relationships
  • Coordinate follow-up with internal and external partners, including Technical Design, Production, and vendors.
  • Manage interoffice communication and ensure timely follow-up throughout the development process.
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with vendors and internal teams.

Required Qualifications:
  • 4+ years of girls sportswear design experience.
  • Bachelors degree in Fashion Design.
  • Superior organizational and communication skills with a strong team-oriented approach.
  • Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly detail-oriented, meticulous, and creative.
  • Strong creative, technical, and merchandising sensibility with the ability to sketch.
  • Extensive knowledge of garment construction, pattern making, silhouettes, colorways, sewing techniques, fabrication, and trims.
  • Familiarity with print design and garment manufacturing.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, CAD, and Mac computers.
