Pacific Office Automation is seeking candidates for the position Receiving Clerk in Phoenix, AZ for one of our flagship Education sites. This important position is responsible for Receiving operations and overall coordination between POA and the customer. A high level of client satisfaction must be maintained in supporting the client's needs.
The individual in this position continually seeks to improve the operations of support service, analyzing the current systems and implementing sound practices according to POA's Standards of Operational Excellence. This position is a critical position and is considered part of the local team supporting our most important clients. Ideal candidates for this position will be a competent self-organizer with a positive attitude and the ability to handle deadlines.
Position Description
The receiving clerk signs for deliveries, checks delivery content against shipping invoices, addresses and resolves problems with shipments, stocks or deliveries accordingly, and works with both customers and distributors to address any shipping and delivery issues. Key shipment items will be copiers, printers, toner, cases of paper, etc. specific to POA operations. In addition to other items as ordered by the client through the receiving dock.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a Receiving Clerk
  • Accepts and signs for deliveries from distributor.
  • Assists in unloading shipments from delivery truck.
  • Opens boxes and inspects contents of shipments.
  • Processes returns for any defective or incorrect items.
  • Checks shipping invoice to ensure all items are accounted for.
  • Contacts seller or distributor to resolve shipment discrepancies.
  • Stores, restocks, and shelves delivery items as necessary.
  • Ensures that stockroom is clean and organized.
  • Processes transfers for shipments moving on to another location.
  • Pays balance on invoices upon receipt of delivery.
  • Manages and maintains all billing and shipment receiving records.
  • Conducts inventory of products, and logs data into inventory database.
  • Contacts distributor to inquire about shipment delays or problems.
  • Reports any major or unresolved shipment delays or problems to company manager.
  • Addresses and answers customer inquiries about pending orders and shipments.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills.
  • Pays close attention to detail and manages time effectively.
  • Possesses physical strength necessary to lift and move heavy boxes received by the store.

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Job training session(s) required prior to start date.
  • License and certification to operate a forklift / commercial grade vehicle is strongly preferred.

Work Environment
  • Time will be spent in a stockroom, warehouse, or loading dock receiving and transporting deliveries.
  • Time will also be spent in a shipping and receiving office processing inventory and paperwork.
  • Moderate to heavy physical labor such as lifting and moving heavy items is required on a regular basis.
  • Temperature in the warehouse or dock varies according to external climate.
  • Standard 40-hour workweek applies.
