Description:

As a used car technician at Lexus Carlsbad, you are the critical engine behind our pre-owned sales department. Your primary role is to perform meticulous multi-point inspections and accurate mechanical diagnostics on all makes and model vehicles. Balancing precision with high - velocity workflow, your goal is to safely and properly recondition pre-owned vehicles so they can move swiftly to the sales font line. You will uphold the luxury standards of the Lexus brand by ensuring every vehicle is reliable and flawless.

Requirements:

1. High volume production & efficiency

- Rapid reconditioning: Work with a sense of urgency to minimize vehicle downtime, turning around used car inspections and mechanical repairs quickly to meet dealership sales goal of a total of three (3) day turnaround from start to finish.

- Task management: Prioritize our repair pipeline effectively to maximize your flagged hours and keep the pre-owned manager supplied with ready-to-sell inventory.

- Workflow Collaboration: Partner closely with the Pre-owned Sales Manager, Used Car service advisor, and Parts Department to ensure swift approvals and part ordering.

2. Detailed reporting & diagnostic precision

- Electronic inspections: Complete comprehensive 360-degree digital inspections using the dealership's designated software, Tekion. Using all media to ensure clear and accurate vehicle reporting.

- Accurate fault tracing: Utilize factory scan tools and diagnostic equipment to interpret codes and accurately trace the root cause of mechanical, electrical, or drivability issues.

- Transparent documentation: Write legible, highly detailed reports on the repair order, clearly documenting the complaint, casue, and correction.

- Estimating: Provide accurate repair estimates and time requirements to the Service Advisor and Used Car Manager so they can evaluate the financial feasibility of the reconditioning process

3. Quality assurance & repair work

- Lexus & all-make proficiency: Perform maintenance and repairs on varying makes and models (with focus on luxury and Toyota line), including brakes, suspension, fluid replacement, and engine drivability.

- Road testing: Conduct necessary test drives to confirm diagnoses and verify that the repair process resolves the issue.

- Safety compliance: Adhere strictly to factory and dealership repair procedures to ensure all safety standards are met before handling a vehicle to a customer


Qualifications:

GED

Experience: 5 years/mid-level


Technical background: minimum of 3-5 years of automotive tech experience, preferably in an exclusive luxury franchise or a high volume dealership reconditioning department


Certifications: ASE certification is highly preferred. Factory level Lexus training or master level status will be viewed favorably


Attention to detail: Strong diagnostic aptitude and desire to fix it right the first time, preventing comebacks


Punctuality & organization: Capability to multi-task in fast paced environment while maintaining clean and organized workstation


Drivers license: Valid license with clean record
