What is a factor?

In business and finance, 'factors' are companies or individuals that purchase accounts receivable (invoices) from other businesses at a discount. This process, known as factoring, provides businesses with immediate cash flow instead of waiting for customers to pay their invoices. Factors then assume the responsibility of collecting payments from the customers. This service can help businesses manage cash flow, reduce bad debt, and focus on core operations. Factoring is commonly used by small to medium-sized enterprises that need working capital.
