Facilities Manager

Chichester Central School
Full-Time | Year-Round Position

Chichester Central School is seeking a dedicated, organized, and hands-on Facilities Manager to oversee the maintenance, operations, cleanliness, safety, and overall care of our K8 school building and grounds.

The Facilities Manager supervises custodial staff and coordinates maintenance operations to ensure a safe, clean, functional, and welcoming environment for students, staff, families, and community members.

Position Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Supervisory & Operational Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate custodial and maintenance staff
  • Assist with hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating custodial personnel
  • Coordinate building maintenance, preventative maintenance, and repair schedules
  • Develop and implement maintenance and safety procedures
  • Coordinate and oversee contractors, inspections, and service providers
  • Assist in developing annual maintenance and facilities budgets
  • Monitor inventory and facilitate purchasing of custodial and maintenance supplies/equipment
  • Coordinate custodial schedules, vacations, and substitute coverage
  • Work collaboratively with administration on long-range facilities planning and school safety procedures
  • Maintain work order systems and maintenance records
  • Meet and communicate regularly with administration regarding facilities needs and priorities

Maintenance of Buildings & Grounds

  • Conduct regular inspections of the building and grounds to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations
  • Oversee maintenance of heating, ventilation, plumbing, electrical, septic, and other building systems
  • Perform minor repairs, construction, renovation, and maintenance projects as needed
  • Assist with snow removal, landscaping, mowing, trimming, and grounds upkeep
  • Support school and community events through setup and facility preparation
  • Respond to emergency situations and building concerns as needed
  • Participate in after-hours building response as part of facilities/security coverage

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required
  • Experience in facilities management, maintenance, custodial supervision, or related field preferred
  • Working knowledge of building systems, maintenance procedures, and equipment operation preferred
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and supervise staff effectively
  • Ability to establish positive working relationships with staff, students, families, and community members
  • Experience with technology systems such as work order systems, Excel, and Word preferred
  • Valid driver's license required
