Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Work with others to develop and implement capital projects that will reduce costs and improve operating efficiency.
a) Preparing, scheduling, coordinating, and monitoring of assigned engineering projects.
b) Cooperating and communicating with the project manager and other project participants and collaborating with senior engineers to create more efficient project methods and to maintain the project's profitability
2) Provide engineering support for new equipment upgrades and special projects in the Thermoforming department.
a) Performing quality control tasks on budgets, schedules, plans, and personnel performance and reporting on the project's status.
b) Focusing on the controls component selection and circuits to ensure standardization and company policy for Category level are achieved
3) Utilizing your technical expertise, assist with troubleshooting and repairs of mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
4) Identify improvement opportunities and use a data driven approach to quantify the improvement, develop timelines, and develop budgets.
5) Communicate with various departments within the corporation to obtain information and provide project updates.
6) Research and evaluate new technologies as they pertain to the manufacturing process.
7) Understand and follow up on significant reoccurring equipment failures.
8) Lead and/or participate in cross functional teams that focus on process improvement.
9) Manage and work on various projects as requested by department leadership.
10) Provide electrical / mechanical installation support and technical expertise during project commissioning.
11) Optimize performance of automated equipment, inspection equipment, and robotic work cells.
12) Created training instructions and standard operating procedures for use in equipment implementation. Assist with training as needed.
13) Write Capital Improvement Projects with responsibilities from start to finish.
14) Responsible for adherence to all Amcor, industry, and/or regulatory requirements.
15) Ensuring the project's compliance with the applicable codes, practices, policies, performance standards, and specifications. (ANSI standards, ISO Standards, OSHA Standards)
a) Comply with all company Environmental Health and Safety and Department of Health requirements.
16) Coordinating the development of user manuals, training materials, and other documents as needed to enable successful implementation and turnover of the process or system to the clients.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
• Associate or bachelor's degree in a discipline related to automation, controls or equivalent work experience.
Practical:
• Individual must be "Safety and Team Oriented", a "Good Communicator", and possess "Project Management" skills.
• Strong computer skills are required. CAD and SolidWorks experience is a plus, as well as, a good understanding of MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and the ability to collect and analyze large portions of data.
• Understand High and Low voltage controls.
• Can troubleshoot systems utilizing skills associated with software, mechanical, and/or electrical methods.
• Experience with Continuous Improvement initiatives such as Six Sigma, Kaizen, 5-S, and Lean Manufacturing is a plus.

Physical Expectations:
• Hearing sufficient to recognize and respond to shouted warnings, alarms and horns on forklifts.
• Stereo optical vision of 20/40 or better and peripheral vision of 70 degrees or greater and ability to read 10-12-point font at a distance of 12-18 inches.
• Able to see and identify colors. (Complete an "Ishihara" color Vision Test)
• Able to use both hands for effective manipulation of tools/parts.
• Ability to work at heights (with or without fall protection).
• Must not be at risk of sudden alterations in consciousness.
• Ability to lift 35 pounds a minimum of 10 times per day.
• Ability to push/pull loads of approx. 45 lbs. at a minimum of 10 times per day/shift.
• Able to work in extremes of heat/cold.
• Able to work overhead or in awkward positions on a frequent basis.
• Ability to occasionally climb on and off a forklift safely and without assistance.
