What will you do?
A day in the life of a Senior Designer - Men's Apparel, at The North Face looks a little like this.
  • You work on elevating design expression and creating best-in-class product designs in the Men's Tops & Bottoms category, with a high level of aesthetic competence. You're a highly influential member of the design team who balances strong creativity with an ability to deliver. You're expected to work well independently, driving design decisions.
  • You will work on product that is built for Snow / Climb / Trail, and also lifestyle product that is inspired by these territories.
  • You lead seasonal research and insights, presentation tools, concepts, design deliverables, and product design. You're a collaborative member of the design team and work well with cross functional partners.
  • You drive and inspire design ideas with a focus on craftsmanship and excellence. You are experienced at presenting design work to a large audience in a highly compelling way. You give and receive objective constructive feedback.
  • You have a highly advanced understanding for brand aesthetic, DNA, materials and technologies, fit and silhouette, in support of consumer and business needs.
  • You have a strong understanding of the needs of outdoor apparel, as well as an elevated taste level. You have good knowledge of the competitor landscape in this space.

What do you need to succeed?
We all have unique skills that we bring to work and celebrate every day. For this role, there are foundation skills you'll need to succeed and excel. Additionally, while formal education in a related field is great to have, we are most interested in your 6+ years of experience and professional achievements.
The foundation skills you will need in this position are:
  • 6+ Years experience with athletic / outdoor / sportswear / mens apparel design
  • Strong product acumen with working knowledge of apparel product development processes, including design, development, sourcing and manufacturing
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of apparel construction with flat sketching and illustrating expertise.
  • Understanding of and ideally active participant in some of the activities / sports that you are designing for.
  • Hands-on experience with Adobe creative suite CAD software. 3D software and AI image generation experience (Clo / Browzwear / Vizcom / Midjourney) a plus but not required.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience in creating high-quality, detailed tech packs.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of cost engineering process and ability to design to cost.
  • Strong experience in fitting. Understanding of category silhouette needs for sports and strong sense of aesthetic.
  • Experience with developing performance materials, trims and color palettes.
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to story-tell and present product in a persuasive manner.
  • Proficient communication skills with cross-functional teams and vendors.
  • Working knowledge of product cycles and understanding of core deadlines.
  • Growth mindset and enthusiasm for learning new tools and problem-solving

Hiring Range:
$96,768.00 USD - $120,960.00 USD annually
Incentive Potential: This position is eligible for additional compensation awards that may include an annual incentive plan, sales incentive, or commission potential.
