Responsibilities Position Summary: The 1st Shift Fabrication Manager manages the Fabrication and Welding team, ensuring efficient and timely production.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Must be available to work 1st Shift (5:00am-1:30pm CST) on-site daily in Hobart, Indiana

Salary Range: $90,000-$120,000K

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manages the Fabrication and Welding team, including recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures
  • Leads the Panel Manufacturing group in the fabrication, assembly, and testing of control panels; ensures delivery is on time and on budget and quality and safety standards are met
  • Provides labor forecasting and daily planning of panel shop resources; tracks key department metrics
  • Works with Engineering to address any bill of materials or drawing issues
  • Pursues opportunities to grow the business through new client acquisition
  • Implements process improvements using Lean and Kaizen practices
  • Works with Planning and Shipping, Purchasing, and vendors to ensure on-time delivery and needed inventory
  • Develops and implements quality assurance procedures
Qualifications Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or technical field preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in control panel fabrication or manufacturing management

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:

  • Excellent management skills for directing, coaching, scheduling, and assisting team members
  • Strong knowledge of panel fabrication and inventory management
  • Ability to read and understand electrical drawings
  • Knowledge of OSHA and UL508 guidelines
  • Computer skills including MS Office
  • Experience using MRP/ERP system; SAP Preferred
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated and detail oriented
  • Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail and deadlines
  • Team-oriented and collaborative
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
