Job Description
The Fabrication Shop Manager oversees daily operations within the fabrication shop, managing staff, workflow, quality control, and safety standards. This role is responsible for meeting production targets, maintaining equipment, and ensuring timely project delivery while adhering to company policies and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, train, and support fabrication shop personnel.
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate fabrication activities to ensure efficient workflow and on-time completion of projects.
- Monitor production quality and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Ensure that all operations comply with safety regulations and company guidelines.
- Manage inventory of raw materials, tools, and supplies; coordinate with procurement as necessary.
- Oversee equipment maintenance and schedule repairs or upgrades as required.
- Collaborate with engineering, project management, and other internal teams to meet project requirements.
- Prepare and maintain documentation related to production, including reports, logs, and records.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to optimize shop performance and processes.
- Conduct regular safety meetings, inspections, and training for shop staff.
Required Qualifications
- Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3 to 5 years' experience in a fabrication or manufacturing environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management capacity.
- Strong knowledge of fabrication processes, materials, equipment, and safety regulations.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and manage conflict effectively.
- Excellent organizational, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in using shop management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software and reading technical drawings.
- Additional certifications in shop safety, welding, or related areas.
