In Fabrication Engineering Supportat CMC, you will support our fabrication operations through CNC programming, setup documentation, CAD modeling, tooling, quoting, process improvements, and production support for CNC Punch Press, Brake, and Laser equipment. This position works closely with engineering, fabrication, and production personnel to help develop efficient manufacturing processes, support accurate estimating and quoting, and ensure consistent, repeatable production.

Job Duties

  • Assist with generating SMP programs for CNC Punch Press, Brake, and Laser equipment
  • Provide detailed tooling and setup instructions
  • Run production on machines as needed to meet customer ship dates and critical project schedules
  • Optimize tooling and programs when possible to improve cycle times
  • Provide setup and programming support for repeat production
  • Assist with operator training and mentoring
  • Assist with cost and process improvement efforts
  • Ensure setup sheet information is detailed and accurate
  • Ensure tooling is selected and ordered within the scope of CMC's tool standardization program
  • Generate models and CMC shop drawings using Autodesk Inventor CAD software
  • Be willing to work off-peak hours when necessary
  • Design and build fixturing with supervision from Fabrication/Setup lead personnel
  • Assist with customer document review, including DN, DSF, and QDP documentation
  • Assist with estimating, entering quotes, building Bills of Material (BOMs), and routing
  • Support project management activities
  • Adhere to Employee's responsibilities outlined in Cygnus' Health & Safety Policy

Additional Skills & Responsibilities

  • Experience with Autodesk Inventor or other CAD software and the ability to learn specialized software such as SMP
  • Understanding of programming concepts
  • Good communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to learn Punch Press and Brake tooling specific to Amada, Trumpf, and Mazak equipment
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing shop environment, including hot, cold, and/or noisy areas
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds
  • Frequent hand-to-finger movement, handling and feeling objects and tools, walking, sitting, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, talking, and hearing
