Job description

Core Responsibilities: Primary role is wire fabrication, which includes working with chain assemblies.

Omaha Slings is looking for a dependable, hands-on Wire Rope & Chain Assembly Technician to join our production team in Omaha, NE.

This is a full-time, physically active position focused primarily on the fabrication and assembly of wire rope and chain products used in industrial lifting, rigging, and material-handling applications.

We are looking for someone who is comfortable working with their hands, can accurately measure materials, and takes pride in producing quality work. Previous fabrication or industrial experience is helpful, but reliability, attention to detail, and the ability to learn are equally important.

What You’ll Do

  • Fabricate wire rope assemblies according to job specifications.
  • Build and assemble chain assemblies and related products.
  • Measure materials accurately using tape measures, digital calipers, and/or manual calipers.
  • Cut, handle, position, and prepare wire rope, chain, and related hardware.
  • Follow work orders, measurements, and production specifications carefully.
  • Inspect completed assemblies for accuracy and quality.
  • Safely operate fabrication tools and equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Work closely with other production team members to complete customer orders accurately and on time.
  • Assist with additional production and warehouse duties as needed.

Physical Requirements

This is a very physical, hands-on position. Candidates must be able to:

  • Lift, pull, carry, and handle at least 60 pounds.
  • Stand and remain active for the majority of an 8-hour shift.
  • Bend, kneel, crouch, and work on hands and knees when required.
  • Regularly handle heavy wire rope, chain, hardware, and production materials.
  • Perform repetitive physical tasks safely and consistently.
  • Maintain reliable attendance and work the scheduled hours consistently.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure.
  • Experience using digital and/or manual calipers.
  • Strong attention to measurements and detail.
  • Comfortable working with tools and performing hands-on mechanical work.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Dependable and able to maintain consistent attendance.
  • Strong team-player mentality.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and quality.
  • Resume required prior to an in-person interview.
