Qualifications
- B.S. in aerospace or mechanical engineering or related scientific field strongly preferred.
- 5-7 years overall work experience in an engineering role (internships/co-ops may count).
- Knowledge of aircraft certification processes and substantiation techniques.
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Office programs.
- Familiarity with aircraft mechanical/structural design processes, materials, fabrication methods, and aerospace hardware.
- Organized, effective individual contributor with strong communication skills and professional presence.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of aircraft interiors.
- Experience as a certification engineer, design engineer, or substantiation engineer.
- Develop certification plans, compliance checklists, and conformity inspection plans.
- Prepare substantiation reports and test plans/reports for flammability and cabin safety.
- Draft certification presentations for meetings and manage small STC/PMA projects, including supplier data deliverables and responses to inquiries or certification concerns.
- Identify applicable airworthiness requirements for proposed major design changes.
- Support regulatory relationships with FAA agencies via project presentations.
- Interface with customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders regarding certification of modification projects.
