SUMMARY
Perform, assign, direct and inspect work of aircraft mechanics for aircraft maintenance, repairs, inspections and engine installations. Provide technical knowledge, perform system checks, research data, and complete FAA and company records. All work is performed under the guidelines and regulations of the FAA. This position has supervisory responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Oversee all engine installations and provide technical assistance to service and engineering departments.
· Perform system checks.
· Ensure work performed to FAA regulations and complete records per guidelines.
· Perform annual inspections of aircraft.
· Review all maintenance activities for quality assurance and regulatory compliance.
· Ensure appropriate calibrations and checks are made on tools and equipment used by the repair station.
· Conduct FAA repair station inspections.
· Perform FAR, STC, and Advisory circular research associated with the ATP program.
· Perform logbook entries, FAA 337’s, weight and balance entries associated with general maintenance.
· Handle FAA approval on field approvals and ferry permits.
· Complete final check of work orders for proper completion and filing.
· Read and interpret manufacturers' and airline's maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and FAA regulatory directives to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
· Examine engines for cracked cylinders and oil leaks, and listens to operating engine to detect and diagnose malfunctions, such as sticking or burned valves.
· Inspect turbine blades to detect cracks or breaks.
· Test engine operation to locate source of malfunction.
· Disassemble and inspect parts for wear, warping, or other defects.
· Repair or replace defective engine parts and reassemble and installs engine in aircraft.
· Adjust, repair, or replace electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories.
· Knowledge of and ability to adhere to safety requirements, OSHA, and environmental policies.
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Perform logbook entries for airframe, engines, and propellers (note: may be completed by other qualified team members).
· Perform maintenance, preventative maintenance, alteration, or repair of aircraft.
· Perform miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including flushing crankcase, cleaning screens, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes.
· Perform acceptance presentations as required.
· Review service bulletin and airworthiness directives as applicable.
· Remove engine from aircraft.
· Other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. May require occasional bending, reaching, kneeling. Must be able to lift 30-50 lbs.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or two years to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
