Job description

General Description:

Financial Aid Specialist are responsible for planning, organizing and delivering a high level of service to colleges and universities ensuring federal aid is processed in accordance to the school, state and federal guidelines provided. FA Specialist serve as the main point of contact for the client school are expected to maintain a clear and consistent communication.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Serve as Client administering all aspects of reviewing, awarding, reconciling federal aid
  • Responsible for ensuring accurate Policies and Procedures exist
  • Work with comptroller/Business Office to ensure accurate and timely exchange of information between operating systems
  • Ensure accurate student data is shared from the Student Information System (SIS) to the FA System
  • Process all steps of document review, originating, disbursing, and notifications required for federal funding
  • Ensure Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) is being tracked and applied accurately at client school
  • Work closely with clients to identify and address areas of improvement
  • Research complex regulatory issues and provide responses
  • Ensure appropriate documents are being requested based on regularly guidelines and ISIR reviews
  • Process financial aid paperwork, including but not limited to Verification, ISIR corrections, PJs and C-Code reviews
  • Send communications regarding document statuses to client schools and students (within scope of contract)
  • Send Exit counseling communication/documentation (within scope of contract)
  • Communicate with clients and co-workers in written and verbal format
  • Maintain compliance in all areas of responsibility
  • Other Duties as assigned
Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • 5+ years financial aid experience
  • High level of analytical skills
  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience at 2 or more schools working in financial aid
  • Experience in 2 or more financial aid operating systems
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively
