Job description

We Write Code is seeking a Platform Engineer in the Des Moines, Iowa area who has the ability to migrate container workflows, and update build, tag, and publish processes. This is a hands-on, hybrid role in Des Moines, Iowa. Relocation assistance is not available, and we will not consider third party candidates.

Required Skills:

  • Senior-level AWS platform engineering across IAM, ECR, ECS/Fargate, Secrets Manager/SSM, S3, VPC networking, and CloudWatch.
  • Experience using Claude Code or another agentic coding assistant in a professional engineering workflow, including critically reviewing AI-generated changes and validating them with tests or evidence.
  • Working knowledge of ECS on Fargate deployments including task definitions, services, networking, IAM task roles, logging, ALB/service discovery, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong Terraform skills for provider migration and module authoring plus GitHub Actions CI/CD expertise with reusable workflows, environments, and OIDC to AWS.
  • Proficiency in Bash/Python scripting, automationfocused repo navigation, Azure literacy for reading existing configs, and solid Docker/Git fundamentals.

What will make you stand out:

  • Experience with Coder and cloud dev environments such as GitHub Codespaces and devcontainers.
  • Familiarity with AWS Blocks/CDK and the judgment to choose them over onetoone ports when appropriate.
  • Background in Microsoft Entra ID OIDC federation plus exposure to Snowflake/Redshift/Glue.

Location and Hours:

This is a full-time, hybrid position in Des Moines, Iowa working in the office four days a week.
