What role you will play in our team
The Alkylation Expert Engineer is a regional specialist expected to apply process engineering, manufacturing, technology, and leadership skills to solve complex problems, develop and deploy technology solutions, and improve existing manufacturing sites. This role influences without formal authority, collaborates across internal and external partners, and leverages alkylation expertise to deliver maximum business value.
What you will do
  • Apply personnel and process safety principles within ExxonMobil facilities.
  • Maintains and builds organizational expertise in fuels alkylation technology, including Sulfuric Acid and HF Alkylation processes.
  • Provides technology-specific support to manufacturing sites, including troubleshooting, incident investigations, root cause assessments, catalyst selection support, chemical trials, corrosion inhibitor trials, process unit vision studies, major incident response, long-term constraint resolution, and planned maintenance support.
  • Leads or participates in multidisciplinary teams to solve complex problems in existing manufacturing assets and in the development or deployment of new technologies.
  • Develops, deploys, and supports technical readiness of new and improved alkylation technologies, including first-of-a-kind solutions, internally developed technologies, third-party technologies, and applications of existing design standards.
  • Supports complex project implementation by providing alkylation process engineering input, technical quality oversight for technology-specific equipment, and project documentation such as design basis, design considerations, and risk analysis.
  • Collaborates with business development, research, equipment engineering, and manufacturing organizations to deliver products, processes, and technology solutions needed by the business.
  • Identifies cross-functional business improvement opportunities and improves technical work processes, tools, and practices to maximize value capture.
  • Networks with industry associations and ExxonMobil sites to share knowledge, establish best practices, and increase competitiveness.
  • Mentors and develops less experienced technical professionals.
  • Position requires geographic flexibility and periodic travel to manufacturing sites and project locations.

About you
Skills and Competencies
  • B.S. Chemical Engineering
  • Extensive knowledge of fuels alkylation process technology, including Sulfuric Acid Alkylation and/or HF Alkylation operations.
  • Strong manufacturing and process engineering experience supporting operating facilities.
  • Influences outcomes without formal authority and communicates effectively with internal and external partners.
  • Leader and self-starter who takes initiative in identifying, developing, and communicating technical solutions.
  • Demonstrates strong business acumen, risk management judgment, and ability to identify and pursue business value opportunities.
