JOB DESCRIPTION: Precepts new staff and students. Masters concepts of hemodynamics. Should have intermediate knowledge of x-ray equipment and troubleshooting. Able to assist with circulating role as needed. Troubleshoots imaging equipment collaborating with biomedical engineers for service. Participate in procedural charging. Maintains supply management. Able to act quickly under emergency situations. Able to discuss with physician plan of action and assist with any high-risk procedures. Cross-trains as needed to support departmental needs. Monitors cases. Understands and works with x-ray system, including panning table and recognizing different angles. Manages access site including proper removal of sheath, assessment of hematoma and knowledge of hematoma management. Understands concepts of radiation safety. Knowledgeable in coronary anatomy and recognizing different types of lesions. Basic knowledge of supply features and applications to procedure. Knowledge and adherence to sterile technique. Able to communicate effectively with team, patients, families and medical staff. Cath Lab: Assists in procedures such as complex PCI including CTO, Able to assist with complex procedures; including multiple wire exchanges and able to use long wires and OTW balloons. Should be able to use specialty devices such as rotablater, CSI, laser and shockwave. May participate in structural heart cases. Able to troubleshoot emergency equipment (balloon pump and ventricular assist device). Assists in scrub role for procedures such as right & left heart catherization, PCIs and STEMIs. EP Lab: Assists in advanced EP procedures (such as lead extractions at some sites, complex ablations and stims independently). Assist in scrub role for procedures such as cardiac ablations and device implants, ECDs, generator changes, loop recorders.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Preferred: Registered as ARRT with CI credential or RCIS or RCES Minimum: Licensed AEMT OR National Registered Paramedic (NRP) OR graduate of accredited school of radiologic technology OR accredited school of cardiovascular technology OR academic program in health sciences. Must become registered as an ARRT with post primary category of cardiac interventional radiography or RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) or RCES obtained within 12 months of hire or promotion as a condition of continued employment
