Job Purpose

The Data Operations Manager leads and executes data and operational processes supporting benchmark and customized K-12 assessments. This role ensures reliable data pipelines, analytics, and reporting, and enables the development and delivery of customized assessments for school and district partners.


The Data Operations Manager, reporting to the SVP of Measurement & Research, collaborates with content development, software product, and services teams to configure and deliver assessments, manage data operations, produce analytic insights, and continuously improve data workflows and operational processes.


This role is designed to evolve over time. Initially, the focus will be on learning and managing existing assessment data workflows, including data-driven assessment development. As expertise grows, the role will expand to improve efficiency, strengthen data integrity, and deliver deeper analytical insights that support educator decision-making and program growth.


Key Responsibilities

Assessment Data Operations

  • Manage the collection, validation, and processing of assessment data across multiple test administrations
  • Maintain data workflows that support the development, scoring, reporting, and analysis of assessments
  • Coordinate data preparation and delivery for internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Own and maintain core assessment data systems and operations

Customized Assessment Support

  • Build customized assessments from district specifications using complex queries and automated processes
  • Define and coordinate data requirements for custom test builds, including item pools, test forms, and scoring specifications
  • Collaborate with assessment content teams to ensure optimal test configuration

Data Projections and Forecasting

  • Calculate projections and utilize forecasting models to support customer decision-making, assessment planning, and program growth
  • Analyze testing volumes, reporting timelines, and assessment usage trends
  • Provide insights to inform educator decisions and internal planning

Data Analytics and Reporting

  • Develop dashboards, data visualizations, reports, and summaries for school districts and internal stakeholders

Process Improvement & Documentation

  • Learn and document existing data processes and systems
  • Identify opportunities to streamline, scale, and improve data operations

Required Skills & Attributes


Data & Analytical Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in data science, statistics, education research, information systems, or a related field
  • 2-4 years of experience in data operations, analytics, or assessment data management
