Job description

Second Shift Warehouse Supervisor

Distribution Center – Baton Rouge, LA 70806

Second shift Supervisor is responsible for managing and overseeing all functions of the warehouse on the second shift including twelve to fifteen employees. Warehouse functions may include but are not limited to order selecting, loading, shipping, receiving, safety, and sanitation.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Supervising all functions in the warehouse and employees at night
  • Instruct and provide hands on oversight to warehouse employees in the proper execution of all
  • establish quality, safety, and cleaning practices of the warehouse operation.
  • Organize and conduct necessary training activities for shift employees.
  • Conduct and document weekly huddle meetings with shift employees.
  • Ensure all customer orders are loaded properly, and paperwork is complete and accurate.
  • Schedule employees and keep overtime to a minimum.
  • Meet daily productivity and quality goals.
  • Ensure merchandise is handled and loaded properly to control damage and preserve quality.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Responsible for compliance with OSHA regulations and forklift safety requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Computer literate with Excel experience
  • Analytical, attention to detail, follow through, problem solving, team building.
  • Flexible to work overtime.
  • Must be able to express ideas clearly.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to move non CDL box trucks
  • Minimum 5 years of warehouse or distribution management experience
  • College degree preferred but not required.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift
  • Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching
  • Abilit to frequently lift and/or move items up to 25-50 lbs. Occasionally more with assistance
  • Use of hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls
  • May require climbing stairs and navigating large warehouse spaces

Work Environment:

The environment may include exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, dust from paper products, and moderate to high noise levels from equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and conveyor systems.
