Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role for an Ocean Transportation (Import-Export) Specialist, based in Savannah, GA. The candidate will be responsible for handling day-to-day standard FCL import and export shipments, including booking, documentation, shipment tracking, and coordination with customers, carriers, and overseas partners. The role will also involve general freight forwarding activities and may require some travelling.


Qualifications:

  • 1+ year of experience in ocean freight forwarding (Import & Export)
  • Experience in customer service and freight forwarding
  • Good knowledge of the logistics and shipping industry, including Incoterms, Bills of Lading, Liner Terms, and ocean carriers
  • Knowledge of OOG and breakbulk shipments is a plus
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Strong service and customer orientation
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Fluent in English; German or Spanish is a plus


Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage day-to-day FCL import and export shipments
  • Plan and coordinate international shipments from booking through delivery
  • Communicate with customers, suppliers, carriers, terminals, and overseas partners
  • Prepare, review, and process shipping and customs-related documentation
  • Track shipments and proactively communicate status updates
  • Maintain accurate shipment data, files, and reports
  • Support inside sales and customer development activities
  • Maintain strong relationships with customers and suppliers
  • Support quality management and claims handling
  • Visit local customer and supplier sites as needed to support operations and ensure quality standards are met
