SUMMARY:
The Ocean Export Specialist is responsible for managing the end-to-end coordination of international ocean export shipments. This role ensures all shipments are executed efficiently, cost-effectively, and in compliance with company procedures and global trade regulations. The Ocean Export Specialist is responsible for managing the end-to-end coordination of international ocean export shipments. This role ensures all shipments are executed efficiently, cost-effectively, and in compliance with company procedures and global trade regulations. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Coordinate and execute all ocean export shipments from booking through final delivery
- Prepare and manage export documentation to ensure compliance with international regulations
- Arrange cargo collection and inland transportation; monitor shipment progress
- Maintain effective communication with customers, overseas agents, carriers, and vendors
- Provide shipment updates, pre-alerts, and resolve issues proactively
- Manage and update carrier rates; obtain spot quotes as needed
- Track shipments and ensure timely milestone updates in internal systems
- Process billing, verify payable charges, and support accurate invoicing
- Audit shipment files to ensure completeness and compliance
- Maintain organized customer and shipment records
- Enter and maintain shipment data within Cargowise (C1) system
- Collaborate with internal teams to support overall branch and operational goals
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3+ years 'experience handling ocean export shipments
- Strong knowledge of export documentation, processes, and compliance requirements
- Proven ability to coordinate shipments from origin through final delivery
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Proactive problem-solving skills with a customer-focused approach
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field preferred
- Experience within the freight forwarding industry strongly preferred
- Familiarity with CargoWise (C1) software is preferred
- Geographic knowledge and understanding of global trade lanes are a plus
- Additional language skills are a plus
