Expo Manager information

What does an expo manager do?

An Expo Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing exhibitions, trade shows, and expos. Their duties include coordinating logistics, managing budgets, liaising with vendors and exhibitors, ensuring compliance with regulations, and delivering a successful event experience. Expo Managers work closely with marketing, operations, and venue teams to ensure all aspects of the expo run smoothly and meet organizational goals.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an expo manager?

To thrive as an Expo Manager, you need expertise in event planning, project management, and vendor coordination, often supported by a degree in hospitality, business, or a related field. Familiarity with event management software, budgeting tools, and registration platforms is typically required. Strong organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills help you manage teams and build relationships with clients and exhibitors. These abilities are crucial for delivering successful expos that meet client objectives and ensure seamless event execution.

What are some common challenges expo managers face when coordinating large-scale events?

Expo Managers often encounter challenges such as managing multiple vendors, ensuring timely setup and breakdown of exhibits, and adapting to last-minute changes from exhibitors or sponsors. Balancing the needs of various stakeholders while maintaining a seamless attendee experience requires strong organizational and communication skills. Additionally, staying compliant with venue regulations and troubleshooting technical issues on the spot are frequent aspects of the role. Proactive planning and flexibility are key to overcoming these challenges.

Host / Expo - Part Time
Screaming Tuna | Milwaukee, WI

Join Screaming Tuna, a modern Sushi & Asian Bistro located on the scenic Milwaukee Riverwalk, where bold flavors and sustainability meet unforgettable dining experiences. As a Host / Expo, you will play a crucial role in ensuring smooth restaurant operations while creating memorable moments for our guests. • Manage reservations and waitlists using digital tools (OpenTable or similar).
    • Coordinate table turns with servers and managers to maintain smooth dining room flow.
    • Ensure cleanliness and organization of the host stand and entrance area.
    • Create positive first and last impressions for every guest.

  • Learn valuable front- and back-of-house skills that can lead to career advancement.
  • Competitive pay plus tips for expo shifts.
