V2X is seeking a Quality Assurance / Safety Specialist with no less than 10 years of of experience in explosives safety, including five (5) or more years as an explosive and occupational safety and health standards (OSH) safety officer, to support our Government customer.

Responsibilities

Major Job Activities: 

  • Ensure that all personnel, facilities, equipment and the environment are protected, secured, and maintained during contract activities.
  • Develop required Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) documentation.
  • Conduct and/or ensure employees receive required EHS training according to program and Federal, State, local and/or Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.
  • Conduct investigations, surveys, audits, and assessments in support of the Performance Work Statement (PWS).
  • Performs other duties as assigned to meet organizational / operational objectives.

Qualifications

Education / Certifications: 

Candidates shall:

  • Maintain a current Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) certification (40-hour initial and eight (8) hour annual refresher training, as required).
  • Complete and provide certificates for either the Basics of Naval Explosives Hazard Control (AMMO 18-DL) or the Naval Explosives Safety for Supervisors / Managers (AMMO-49-DL), as well as Military Munitions Rule training courses described in Appendix D of NAVSEA OP-5, Ammunition and Explosives Safety Ashore (no later than 30 days after hire).
  • Have completed OSH and Explosive Safety training including, but not limited to: General Industry Standards 29 CFR 1910 (80 hours) and Construction Standards 29 CFR 1926 (80 hours).
  • Have taken the Department of Transportation (DOT) Explosive Handler physical examination and provide certification to support acceptability to work with explosives.
  • Be certified and provide certificate in Gas Free Engineering / Shore Safety training.
  • Be certified to perform respirator fit testing.
  • Have completed State-certified Asbestos Supervisor training.

Experience / Skills: 

  • At least 10 years of experience in explosives safety, including five (5) or more years as an explosive and occupational safety and health standards (OSH) safety officer.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and responsibility for ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and local environmental and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.

Clearance Requirement:

  • At a minimum, candidates must possess an active Secret (Tier 3) level Security Clearance.
