Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Maintains/operates vehicles and equipment in a safe, professional manner.
  • Driving time is 20 - 30% and remainder is performing physical labor activities using hand tools, shovels, etc. outside with exposure to the elements.
  • Ability to coordinate and handle mechanical mechanisms to deliver emulsion.
  • Picks up and transports goods, inventory, hazardous materials, and other types of cargo to intended destinations.
  • Keeps driving and delivery logs maintained, confirms the contents of loads match manifest documents, and tracks and reports working hours.
  • Responsible for loading/unloading and transporting materials and supplies to and from specified destinations, which includes overhead bin loading requiring fall protection.
  • Operates mobile manufacturing units (MMUs) onsite at customer locations to create a wide array of bulk products for blasting.
  • Masters the operation of Austin Powder bulk equipment to create consistent quality in our products to enhance our customer experience.
  • Complete pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and reports any maintenance requirements to Location Manager.
  • Comply with all regulatory requirements and company policies for the delivery of bulk and packaged explosives.
  • Operate mobile manufacturing equipment, which includes precise control of chemicals into the product.
  • Hands on approach in the daily operation and maintenance of the Austin Powder location and customer sites
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Valid Class-A or Class-B CDL license and cleaning driving record
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Physical ability to lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to read and interpret gauges and regulate gauges to correct standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of daily operations, including product usage and safety checks.
  • Trouble shooting, problem solving skills to fix issues in the field.
  • Hazmat, tanker, and air brake endorsements are highly preferred.
  • Must meet the requirements of all State and Federal explosive laws and qualify as an ATF explosive possessor.
  • Unrestricted for operating manual transmissions is a plus.
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours (starting very early)
  • High attention to detail to have accurate inventory record keeping.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
  • Ability to follow instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, product bulletins, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to identify products by sight.
  • Reliable transportation

Education and Experience

  • Must be 21 years of age as required by the DOT
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Reporting Relationships

  • Reports to the Location Manager for daily operations and when on-site at a customer's location, will take instructions from Blaster-In-Charge

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • This position involves working outdoors in all weather conditions, lifting and carrying approximately 50 lbs. and doing a variety of hands-on physical tasks utilizing material handling equipment, safety equipment and hand tools.
