What is the Opportunity?

Aecon Engineering Services Inc., the former United Engineers and Constructors, an Aecon Company, is seeking Project Engineering Managers to manage the engineering and design efforts for new and existing nuclear generating stations, including Small Modular Reactors (SMR), and modifications to existing facilities such as electric power uprates (EPU), and general component replacement. The successful candidate will lead the project engineering effort, working as a liaison with the clients, partners and with a team of Engineers and Designers on the support of conceptual, preliminary and detailed engineering and design development working in conjunction with fully integrated Engineering, Procurement and Construction project scopes of work.

What You'll Do Here: 

  • Provide engineering management and guidance to subordinate staff, enforces company and project policies. 
  • Plans and manage work activities to ensure successful project execution while maintaining safety, quality, schedule, and budget adherence. 
  • Often working under the supervision of a Project Manager or above, demonstrates and provides project leadership in their area of responsibility. 
  • Supervises and delegates tasks among project staff. 
  • Monitors day-to-day activities and consistently demonstrates the ability to proactively identify potential project problems or opportunities, analyze the issues using all appropriate resources, develop alternatives, and arrive at the most optimum approach to mitigate problems or exploit opportunities. 
  • Demonstrates knowledge of resources and capabilities of other groups for appropriate incorporation into project organization. 
  • Clearly understands the scope of work and contract requirements or those requirements that pertain to his/her area of responsibility.
  • Serves as the responsible professional engineer (PE) in the state where the work is based.
  • Actively Manages the engineering schedule and cost performance. 
  • Supports or conducts formal status reporting and presentations to client and/or management. 

What You Bring to the Team:

  • B.S. Engineering Degree from an accredited university in an Engineering Discipline
  • Ability to manage the engineering elements of a large and complex Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) project. 
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License in any State with ability to be licensed in other States by Comity
  • Minimum 12 years of experience working with nuclear plant engineering and design.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a leadership position or supervisory capacity.  
  • Takes ownership of engineering work performed on a project.
  • Experience working with others in a Project Team environment.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills. 
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work in a multi-tasked environment.
  • Basic understanding of project performance metrics (PI and SPI).
  • Experience with electric power uprates are preferred.
  • Field experience, and ability to perform site walk-downs.
