SHIFT TIMES: 6:30 A.M - 9:30 A.M
1:30 P.M. - 3:30 P.M.
Total A.M. & P.M. Time - - 5.0 Hrs. (5 hrs.)
COMPENSATION: $18.00/hour
BID DATE OPENING: Noon, Monday, July 27, 2026 through

JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: VAN DRIVER
QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires that the person have:
  1. A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
  2. Be 21 years old with a minimum of two years of driving experience.
  3. Being physically qualified (rule 3301-83-07 of the Administrative Code).
  4. Completion of semi-annual driver record checks through the Ohio Department of Education, for which records shall be maintained by the employer and/or school district for a minimum of six years. Van drivers with any of the following shall be disqualified from operating a Van:

1. More than six points last two years
2. A conviction of driving while under the influence of alcohol controlled substance during the last ten years
3. Two (or more) serious traffic violations, as defined in divisions II of section 4506.1 of the Revised Code, during the past two years, or
4. Any railroad crossing violation during the past year
  1. Holding a van driver certification from ODEW and the Logan-Hocking School District.
  2. Having completed van pre-service and in-service training.
  3. Have good attendance.
  4. Physical capability of safely and appropriately lifting and managing preschool and special needs children when necessary.
  5. Participate in drug and alcohol testing.
  6. To maintain eligibility of insurance coverage of the school district fleet insurance carrier.

REPORTS TO: Transportation Supervisor
CONTRACT STATUS: 9 Month
TIME SCHEDULE: As required by van route assigned and/or supervisor
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
II. General Duties Include:
  1. Drive vans punctually on regularly scheduled routes.
  2. Maintain a clean van.
  3. Inspect van daily as required and log accordingly.
  4. Report van defects to mechanics on the work order form.
  5. Obey all traffic laws.
  6. Develop and enforce student-seating charts.
  7. Maintain and report all discipline incidents in an appropriate manner.
  8. Assist as needed with handicapped students.
  9. Promote positive public relations.
  10. Operate vans only for approved school functions.
  11. Report all accidents and complete all required reports.
  12. Request service for vehicles at least two (2) days in advance of the scheduled maintenance.
  13. Transport only authorized students to and from Board approved van stops and routes.
  14. Fuel vehicle as required by operational regulations.
  15. Perform student check and check van condition following each route.
  16. Perform any other duties and regulations requested and required to expedite the transportation program.
  17. Other duties as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor.
