Job Title: Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA)

About Us:
At Family EcoDental, we take pride in providing compassionate, patient-centered care in a welcoming and professional environment. Our team works closely together to deliver comprehensive general dentistry services, as well as specialty services through our independent contractors. We are seeking a skilled EFDA to join us in supporting both our patients and providers.
Position Summary:
The Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA) will play a vital role in delivering high-quality general dentistry care. This position includes performing advanced clinical duties as permitted by state law, assisting the dentist during procedures, and ensuring patients feel comfortable and cared for throughout their visit.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Place, contour, and finish dental restorations (fillings).
  • Take impressions, pour models, and fabricate temporary crowns/bridges.
  • Place sealants, liners, and fluoride treatments.
  • Take and process digital dental radiographs.
  • Provide chairside assistance during exams, cleanings, and procedures.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene techniques and post-treatment care.
  • Maintain accurate charting and patient records in the dental software system.
  • Prepare operatories, sterilize instruments, and follow strict infection control protocols.
  • Help manage dental supplies and inventory.
  • Contribute to a collaborative and positive team environment.
Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited EFDA program.
  • Current EFDA certification/licensure (as required by state).
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Strong knowledge of dental instruments, procedures, and materials.
  • Excellent communication and patient-relations skills.
  • Ability to multitask and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced setting.
Preferred Experience:

  • Previous experience in a general dentistry office.
  • Familiarity with dental practice management software and digital x-ray systems.
